so i have been gone for like 5 months and many things changed

Many socials islands are closed or others are dead,
Many people got banned from social islands My old friends are gone because of this decision

I used to run a store and was making around 20k lindens per months and now not many people buying.
Even my landord sold all of his land.

I guess they are promoting Sansar more and more....not sure but SL used to be a very coool....
User activity is decreasing... SL needs more social placed where people can meet and greet

I guess they are going to close (or merge) SL and will promote Sansar.. not sure

There are loads of social places to find in your Destination Guides.  Look under What's Happening Now and other categories in your destination guide.  The What's Happening Now if full of avi's.  So are the premium and many other categories.

Also, what were you selling for 20K a month?

5 months back 1,2,5,6 were very popular.

Social 1 for roleplay/vampires
Social 2 for all cool people
same with the 5/6

People are visiting a lot of Halloween places right now.  I would not let right now just a few weeks before Halloween make your decision about SL.  It is Halloween time.  That's where you will find a lot of avi's most likely.

Oh, I see what you mean.  Check under NEWCOMER FRIENDLY.  I just looked there are 14 people at DaVinci.  New Citizen's has 8.  I'd suspect Halloween is happening right now so it's not a good time to judge sims not related to Halloween.

Well, it happens sometimes the people want to build something new or something else is just too popular.  It is sad.  I looked at Chat Hot Spots and I see what you mean....London City has 50 people right now.   I was in London City for one month when I was new.  I liked it very much and the people are so helpful.  You could give London City a try.

But, I do not think SL is going to die.  It's pretty busy everywhere I go.  If you want a business, keep checking the destination guide to see what's hot now.

The old 'social islands' are - technically - the places that newbies went to after completing the tutorial island. Since anyone could access them they became a haven for griefers and people who loved to harrass new residents. To that end I would guess that many people no longer hang out there, instead moving on to other inworld places. The new Linden Home continent of Bellissaria is where a lot of avatars are now congregating, and it has a lively social scene. Also - as FairreLilette says - Halloween in SL starts on October 1st, so many people are visiting Halloween-themed events. In addition - if you're looking at inworld numbers right now at this moment in time - it's not really even peak (evening) time for European users, and for US-based users it's still between 8am and 11am.

Hi Raa21 and welcome to SL!  Though your first social places may be inactive right now, probably due to the Halloween season, it can also be that your friends have branched out and discovered all the other places there are to discover and enjoy in SL. SL is a large place with lots to see and do.  It is not dying. I've been there for 10 years and still enjoy seeing what newcomers dream up to build and create.

Please don't leave SL thinking it's dying just because things have changed where you've been hanging out. Start to TP around and see what else is out there. People come and go, let go of land and move to another place. People also change avatars.  Your friends may have left SL - they just opened new accounts. As you become more accustomed to Second Life, you'll start to realize all of your options.
If you like, I can share with you inworld some places to visit.  Are you into art or music? Would you like to meet inworld?

You are way too late. SL died the moment it existed, according to people writing "SL IS DEAD!!!!" threads.

well i didn't exactly said it is dead..i am asking is it going to die?? i don't want this game (more than a game) to die. this is the most intelligent game ever made (my personal opinion)

What I'm trying to say is, that SL has been around for over a decade and during that time, countless people claimed to see signs of SL dying. When I joined SL, there were people talking about it, like its the Titanic that had just hit an iceberg. Well...now its 9 years later.

The other thing I wanted to point out is, that your timeframe is an increadible small strip of time within the years SL has been around. Its not going to suddenly start to die or at least not more than all the years before.

Second Life is not dying. Second Life will be around for many more decades yet.

It's still growing with Private Estates and Linden Owned regions showing positive growth (0.5%). The Bellisseria continent is still expanding down south. There is a huge community there now and it's set to become ten times larger during the next 6-12 months.

Learning islands and Social islands are still around which are still active. The old orientation islands and help islands are still around but with hardly anyone there.

Linden Lab are adding improvements and new features every year. The land prices have come down which has helped a lot. The lab are adding new places every week to the Second Life Destination Guide. There are so many amazing places there along with loads more.

Yes, some of the focus has turned towards Sansar in recent years and in a way I wish they would spend their full attention on Second Life. Sansar has low currency numbers with events held now and then. Time will tell how success it will be as the years go past.

SL avatars will live forever 😐

I've been in Second Life for almost 13 years.

I think they gave up on their introduction system completely and are directing newcomers to private welcome centers these days. That means less need for the social islands.

As for SL as a whole, it's stagnant and has been so for years. Nothing significant is going to change there, neither for good nor bad, it'll just slowly fade as users pass away from old age.
