Group IM/Chats ONLY OFF BUTTON?

While at an event or during an important meeting, random chats from groups can get really annoying. In FS, you can disable the chat window while keeping the ability to receive notifications only. 

Who wants to be forced into seeing or hearing dozens of Muahs, giggles, Huggies and Loan requests all day? I’m stuck using SL’s Viewer for now. FS ate my inventory after the 2nd to the last update. I host twice a week at clubs. Not being able to only have my friends IM’s & Nearby Chat available has become unbearable. 

Any suggestions besides leaving the group to stop seeing and hearing random conversations?

I don't have an issue with group chats (yes, they are generally very annoying) - my BIG issue is when Group Notices proclaiming "[EVENT] HAPPENING NAO!!! TP ATTACHED!!!"

This is STUPID. These "announcements" should be made in group chat, not through a group notice. Because a Group Notice also annoys all the people who will receive it offline: "Gee, really useful, I'll pop over right away as soon as I login four hours from now!" - and they serve to contribute to IM caps.

All you Group Manager types: When the event is starting, stop using group notices to say so and use group chat to reach people who are actually in-world and can participate. Ugh.
