I bought a YouTube gadget to play my YouTube playlists.

It's very cool watching all the pictures on the videos (photos below).   I have on my playlists some 60's psychedelic stuff and there are psychedelic lights and other times photos of the band, etc...and it's way better than ShoutCaster could ever be.

YouTube gadget offers a more realistic "home player" look plus it's way cool with the pictures changing.

Will there ever be a way to just drop in our YouTube playlists or a url and have everyone on the land be able to watch the Videos and hear the sound?

You can do this already, no? I remember a sim near a waterway used to have YT music videos playing on a big screen.

Maybe restrict perms so pranksters can't change the URL to more, erm, 'mucky' YT content...

It says it's for one OR two or more avi's BUT I think the way I have to do that is to have multiple screens and then I select PLAY ALL or something like that (which is NOT working right now for me).

It's new to me...I've only had it for four days...so I'm still trying to figure it out.  But, with one screen only, others cannot hear the sound with the one I have.

It's all so new to me..but you can even watch a concert on here...I mean the pictures are moving.. it is way better than ShoutCaster could ever be and it's fun!

I will ask questions from the creator soon.  But, it isn't that easy to work, not for me.  It takes me a while to grasp things as I am little slow.

EDIT:  Sorry Donna, your post was alright.

The answer is YES AND NO.  I think what needs to be done on the one I have is EVERYONE needs to put the same URL from YouTube into their own TV screen and then it will sync and everyone can then watch and hear the same VIDEO, concert or movie.

What I want to know is will there ever be a way to load and play our YouTube playlist for everyone WITHOUT everyone having to put the same YouTube URL IN?   I will ask the creator.  But, if you saw YT videos playing on a sim, there must be a way to do it then.   Although, it's not really "seeing" the Youtube video or concert that's in question...it's did you hear it?

Talked to someone who works on the Firestorm team about how to get my You Tube playlist to play and the person was very helpful and knowledgeable.

And, WOW...this is amazing.  You can make you own You Tube TV for free.

Follow the instructions below to make MEDIA ON A PRIM

Prim Media (aka MOAP, media-on-a-prim)  Rez a prim. make it flat, like a wall. Edit it, and select 'Select Face'. Select one side of the 'wall'. In the Edit window, select the texture tab. Change 'Materials' to Media. Click the Choose... button, and enter a URL, save, and exit the Edit window. Now you can click the prim, and YouTube (the URL you put there) should play.

I did this and it plays.

If all you want is for people to hear the soundtrack, it's pretty easy...just drop the URL of a media stream (I think a YouTube video ought to work, although I haven't tried it) into the Media URL box in the About Land window.

Now, whether or not you have a TV player nearby, anyone on your land who clicks the movie camera icon on the top menu bar, or has their viewer set to "autoplay media" should hear the sound track of the video.

Yeah, that's really all an SL TV does.

@Lindal Kidd, that's wonderful!  The little camera icon is up near the top right next to where you click to start or stop music.

As far as auto play, under Sound and Media in preferences, there is one which says first under the MEDIA tab 'allow media to auto-play, and second under the music tab there is a place to check 'allow music streams to auto-play'.  I gather I need the first one under the MEDIA tab and and for others to hear they need to check 'allow media to auto-play'?

Well, this is wonderful!

As far as YouTube TV's, I've found it easier to just put the URL of your YouTube playlist rather than putting the url on a notecard and putting the notecard into the contents, although I think with the playlist notecards, it did get rid of the commercials.  But, it's a little tricky getting the hang of it with those notecards in the contents of the TV.  Plays sometimes, other times doesn't.  I'm new to it so hope to get the hang of it!  I do need a commercial-free playlist for a project though.

But, with media-on-a-prim (see my post above) you can make a YouTube TV for free and watch a movie, or a concert or even a sporting event.  That's pretty cool!
