Hi @hipsharrie!

This is a resident-to-resident advice forum.  We are residents just like you, and we can't "correct this for you."

Having said that, I will tell you that there isn't a mistake here, and there is nothing to "correct."  But I can explain what's happening!

A lot of groups spread the cost of their weekly "show in search" fees among their members.  When you belong to groups that do this, every so often you will see a small charge, like $L1 or 2, against your account balance.  If you never buy or earn $L, eventually your balance will go negative.  At that point, you can't even buy freebies, until you pay off the debt.

To find out which groups are charging you, open the group's info window, and look in the Members and Roles tab.  For your group role, check the Abilities.  Scroll down to the Accounting section, and see if "pay group liabilities and receive group dividends" is checked.  If it is, you can either 1) put up with it, 2) leave the group, or 3) contact the group owner and ask that she change this in the group settings.  Many group owners don't even know that they are doing this.

Perform this check for each of your groups.

There is one reason you may want to put up with this...when the group sells their land, the proceeds from the sale are distributed to all the group members who have this group ability.  You could get a windfall!

We can't correct anything.  This is a resident-to-resident forum.  None of us are Lindens and none of us have the power to peek into your account.  If you are running a negative balance, it's because to have agreed to pay for something (perhaps a group fee?) and have not been keeping up with payments.  Take a good luck at the Account >>> Transaction History on your dashboard at secondlife.com to see who you have been sending L$ to regularly.  Once you have figured that out, consider keeping more than L$17 (about 7 cents)  in your account.
