Decorating / Landscaping Suggestions Needed Plz

Hello All,

I am in need of some suggestions.  I got a parcel on a sim I was really after.  I've tried several things with the yard and haven't been happy with any of it.  I'm looking for suggestions.   I'm trying not to lay a prim with a grass texture.   Help plz!

Next, how about a spring running through, with a pergola with a LOT of pillows?  Sort of an oasis feel?

Or maybe just get a nice hot springs prefab?

Or build MOAR rocks up tall around, so your house is nestled into a cliff or cave.  Then put some dirt patches with the sort of twinkling plantings that HPMD can help you with.

mud parcel. I saw them when Bulldozer Mole leveled that mountain range

my thought (at the time and still now) would be geyser land. I probably add back a hill top with a cave to introduce a land formation to which color could be added. Geysers, rock pools, etc, with appropriate walkways and sits

and some gumboots by the back door. Like free ones for any visitors

*waves to new neighbor*  I live on that region, and really fell in love with the terrain. At first, I wasn't sure I was going to keep it, I just wanted to experiment and see what I could do with it. The process and final look made me decide I'll never leave. I went with a nature look, and added some pines, because it felt like pines should be on  a mountain. Also, you'll notice the terrain texture has spots with a speckling of autumn leaves, perfect to use for a fall tree or two! Added a little bit of grass to soften it, and now it's home sweet home. It's a fun challenge, but rewarding. Here's the back yard. (also shows the rocks mentioned in the other thread)

Waves back!   Hi there neighbor!    Why that's beautiful!   What other rocks?  Was that the MOAR rocks comments?  What are those?    How long did it take you to come up with this?   You did an awesome job

Rocks unlinked from a Trompe Loeil thing. I've had them for a long time and used them in other things. I have a ton of landscape stuff, because I've built sims.. So I kinda knew what I had in mind and already had everything for it, plus experience with landscaping. I just hadn't worked with anything quite like this, so had fun with it. You just need to sort of imagine a place, or even look for RL pictures of a theme - that helps. Just experiment, you have more potential there than you know!

I wonder what your style is.

I can think of some ideas:

More formal look with wood terrace instead of a flat green prim. Raised planters. I think a terrace flor is 100% better than a grass prim.

Or a stone terrace, like this:

Or whimsical, with ponds in natural rocks and plants around.

Gravel, wood and stone paving are much better options than a green prim.

Many of the soil patches are free. Go click on everything.

One of these "docks" is 1 LI. I think they could be good as walkways around the house. More interesting than a textured prim. Lots of containers and planters.

Think different. This beach sand will look much better with grass texture than a prim, because it is uneven, not sharp corners. Or with gravel texture for a rock garden.

Go to the other location for cheaper versions. These I have shown, is full permissions. He sell copy/mod in this place:

Showing a corner with uneven rock/soil.

Picture 1 is before decorating.

Picture 2 is the beach sand I show in the picture over, reduced to half the size. I am using NW Coastal - Grass - lawn that we all have in our library.

Picture 3 is the same mesh piece tweaked a bit, adjusted repeats and added some yellowgreenbrown nondescript color.. This is a repeat of 1,5 horisontal and vertical.

with Fanatik rocks. Sadly these don't hold 1 LI when stretched. They look good with the Mole rocks. Looks like they are in family with them. Cousins maybe? Notice that I pulled one rock all the way into the house, and added a Reid Parkin rock with some white flowers on. It is often smart to continue the theme. The stepping stones is from there too. The firepit is Toasty Fire Pit Set - PROMO. Some flower patches from LOVE and we are all set.

Adding a better image, since they became so small. You know it is a textured prim there if you are looking for it, but it's not easy to see because there are no straight line.

Thank you!   I was all on the market place and searching on SL for MOAR rocks.    Now I feel silly!   lol    Thanks again for explaining.

Well I would not relly want a mountain home and personally have no idea what to do with such a garden but I looked around in Ashston village how other people coped with it and found some examples who really did an amazing good job!!

A GREAT way to soften up terrain like this - without resorting to a flat grass lawn prim is with groundcovers, creepers, ivy-like plants and shrubbery. Often they have enough negative space involved that will allow you to layer them along the ground - it will break up the terrain a little bit and often look really good used as a base to plant other things on top of them without it being too jarring.

Thank you Leora,  that last link is my place on Ashton.  I worked on it some last night utilizing a lot of the suggestions and ideas folks gave me.   It's coming together nicely.

I definitely like the ones that worked with the terrain, and even the one the laid down bricks, as opposed to the flat grass prim covers.  Solid grass on top of rocks like that just looks totally out of place.
