It's not the "game" - it's the content - which is created by other users. Give Catznip a go, I get much better performance from it than I do Firestorm, though your mileage may vary. As for being a "fat pig" -the viewer footprint of (even the fat Firestorm) on your hard disk is a helluvalot leaner that 90% of the apps you have. So... it may not be a tinker toy you use, but still a hand-shovel in comparison to what you should have, based on your description of performance, perhaps.~shrugs~

Actually, I do have what you call a "5 year old potato":

You don’t need a high end pc to run SL. You just need to use your settings intelligently, otherwise a high end pc will run like a potato with unoptimized settings.

Usually, when someone is complaining their beast mode PC can’t run SL, their settings are jacked up.

Look around SL long enough and you'll find something to bring beast mode PC down, but generally a competent CPU and GPU will run it fine.
