1 Lindal Kidd
Chic's second picture illustrates the big problem with this "instant flattening" technique. It leaves ugly, almost-vertical cliffs between the flattened area and the surrounding land. On the Mainland, we mostly see these cliffs at the borders between land parcels. Please, when you terraform, take a few extra minutes and smooth out the edges to make the land look...well, like actual LAND. There are a great many techniques that allow you to adapt a house to uneven, even mountainous, land. Use a thick foundation prim and let part of it be buried This foundation can even be a big rock with a flat top, for a more natural look Put part of the house up on stilts Cantilever the house's base (Angled supports running from the front of the base back into the hillside) Treehouse! Go with a skybox!

Choose SELECT LAND and draw a rectangle where you want to flatten (big enough for your house to sit on) then choose the the radio button that says FLATTEN, adjust the size and strength as you like (small bits are safer) and hit apply. You can keep hitting the APPLY button until your land is flat. You can use the SMOOTH option to make the edges conform better to the areas that are not flat.
0 Rolig Loon
Of course, that only works if the landowner has given you permission to terraform. Most landowners (like me) are very careful about allowing tenants to terraform because they can really mess up a region fast. I had a tenant years ago who decided to make a "tiny" hill in her parcel and ended up with a spike that was more than 100m tall and screwed up the land for quite a distance around it. Since then, I have always offered to do terraforming myself if I'm asked, but I only let a couple of trusted people do it themselves.
