Definitely. Scripts can do this, and I bet there are gadgets on the Marketplace if not free open source stuff somewhere. Somebody is bound to recommend one.

I made one for myself that I originally intended to distribute but it has all kinds of weird features which, in turn, have all kinds of inexplicable little glitches. It's super handy for shopping events where you see a product, take a demo, and want to return to it after trying on the demo. But an example of glitches: it tries to label the recorded cam settings using the name of the object at the cam focus, but it can't get that information from a neighboring cam sim.

Hey thank you, I did learn some tings from that but unfortunately not what I'd like. I'm not sure why they haven't allowed us a way to save our camera preferences so that we can login with the same one over and over.

Or maybe they have and I just don't know how to.

I'm sure this isn't the right spot for this thread but was wondering if can save my camera angle / position in SL somehow?

I know that Black Dragon viewer has an option to save camera position, but if you use another viewer that does not have this feature, maybe this HUD can help you:

I'm just going to post the instruction from the link that Alyona shared so everyone can try:

You can change the view permanently (without breaking anything).

Press CTRL+ALT+D to turn on your Advanced menu and choose "Show Debug Settings".

Type CameraOffsetRearView and press Enter.
Try these numbers: X: -2.0, Y: 0.0, Z: -0.0

Then type FocusOffsetRearView, then.
Try these numbers: X: -0.5, Y: 0.0, Z: 0.6

Like it better? It's not for everyone and you can always experiment. There also is a "Reset to Default" button if things get crazy.

Great. Just as I notice my EPICFAIL misspelling of "break". I HATE YOU NOW!  LOL 😜

EDIT (the morning after LOL) - I see you fix my SANFU. :) Thank you, dear! Hahahaa

This is the video that helped me, but it basically does the same thing regarding manually changing the camera offset. I really wished I had seen this video (or learned to manually adjust camera) years ago. It does make a world of difference! (pun intended) 😆

(Not sure if posting the video is allowed but if not you can find it easy enough by searching Buttacwup Pwincess in YouTube).

Maybe I should have said tilt? or just camera position.

No, not at all. What you said is exactly right. The difference is whether we're talking about

  • the cam as it dynamically follows when the avatar moves, or
  • a static position and rotation of the cam in space, especially when it's moved separately from the avatar (e.g., "Alt zoom").

I and (I think) @DemeraraGirl were talking about the latter while everybody else knew you meant the former.

(The latter is sometimes used when setting up a photography shoot for example.)
