Question

Hello,

So I'm kind of new to SL. I purchased a body mod for my avatar to change her to a leopard gecko. Well, I got it switched from the received files to inventory files, but only got the tail portion to actually appear onto my avatar. After fighting with it for a while, I decided to take a break and come back to it later. When I came back, it was still in my inventory, but when I went to click on the voucher, I got a message that said "This gift card is empty! You can use a topup point to recharge it, if you like." Why would I need to pay for an item that I already paid for? Do they expire if you don't use them right away?

Anyway, I've been trying to get it back so that I can work on it some more and try to figure out how to add the darn mod to my avatar. This is all very complicated to me. Even after reading tons of information on it.

Thanks for any help

first you say you bought a body mod, and put it in your inventory, but your complaint is about a giftcard?
If you used that card for buying something it's will off course hold less value, or none.

If you want to use the bodymod, that is the item to look for.
If you are sure the giftcard should hold still value, think deep if you used it, and for what amount.
If you bought the giftcard, what was the amount you paid?.. some are just a few L$ and you have to load them after purchace.

No, I never bought a gift card. That is why this whole thing is confusing. I'm getting a message about a gift card as some sort of error I'm guessing? The message pops up when I click on the item in my inventory while I'm working on my character. It makes no sense whatsoever.

That is what I'm trying to figure out. Why I need to refill/buy a gift card, when I should be able to work with an item that I already purchased. Why the message is popping up when I should just be able to work with the item that I already paid for.

I hope I explained it well enough this time. Like I said, I'm still new to this, so I may have trouble explaining it fully, that is why I copied down the message I received when I clicked on the item. I just don't understand why I can't work with it now like I was able to before I closed the program.

Thanks

you make it a lot easier now :)  contact the seller, or if possible, put your question in the usergroup (if there is one).

A gift card should not be able to send you a message if it is merely in your inventory.  For it to do that, it must be rezzed in world, or be worn.  When you look at it in your inventory, is it in boldface, and does it say (worn on [someplace])?  If so, right click it there in your inventory and choose Detach or Remove from Current Outfit.

Next, go back to the Marketplace and find the listing for the item you purchased.  It will be in your Marketplace History.  Read the information about the item carefully.  Maybe what you bought is a "timed demo".  These are meant to let you try out an item before purchasing it at full price.  After a short trial period, they disappear.  Perhaps the seller put a gift card which you can use to get future discounts in the box with the demo, as a little bonus.
