Not that I even care whether people are Voice-verified or not, but to what advantage do people put this in their profiles? And even if it mattered somehow, how can one tell it's even true? To me, it seems totally meaningless, like putting in your profile that you are a certified billionaire. But maybe I'm somehow missing the point here. Maybe they mean to say: "willing to talk on Voice"? Then why not say so? Or does it simply mean: "I won't talk to you on voice, but you'll have to take my word for it that my avatar represents my RL gender"? To me, it just doesn't make any sense at all. Can someone explain it?

I've never had a clue what this is for either. Verified by whom? How do I know I can trust that accreditation? I hear that Premium members get a free voice morpher anyway, which tells you what LL thinks of it all. I know a lot of people can tell the difference but I don't know if I could unless it was particularly badly done.

It is. It's because they apparently stress over what other people think and they tend to hang around people who care greatly about your RL sex because they may just buy a plane ticket to fly across the giant ocean to come sweep you off your feet and fly you away to some Shangri La to live in luxury. Well, this is the only explanation I can think of for demanding anyone be "verified", right?

That's what I always wonder. Is there some official SL Bureau of Voice Verification that I have not been told about? (And if not, can I start one and make big money?)

If I remember  correctly, it's been often used by Escorts (and "verified" by their employee) -- simply because some of their costumers idiotically are afraid they could suddenly turn gay by having SLex with someone of the same RL gender.

There's a group (or several?) that you could join and voice with the mods in order to "be verified" and from that point on wear some kind of acknowledgement of it in your profile. Or just be a member of those groups. That's how it USED to be. Not something I personally endorse or do but I know of it. But when it all boils down we still have to take the mods' word for it that everyone else wearing the same tag or verification/tick of approval is actually being honest. Considering voice morphing programs not just in SL but external plug-ins make it a moot point.

And I wouldn't go so far as to say it's all a man's hangup. Seems the population by and large are becoming increasingly paranoid. Case in point: SL Secrets. I absolutely abhor that site (but for some reason my best friend loves it). The amount of vitriol spewing from both sexes over who's a man and who's a woman IRL behind the avatar is disgusting. It amuses me that the people doing the demanding expect everyone else to take their word for it, or will happily almost force voice on you to prove their gender regardless whether you care or want to know or not. That's basic insecurity and not confined to one specific gender.

When did you see a man posting they're voice verified in their profile?

I think I've seen one or two. Maybe they wanted to be with the cool kids? You know, like people wearing underwear with other people's names on them.

I also see lots of 'age-verified' claims, which may even be more worrisome, since it implies they are hanging out in places that frequently accomodate minors.

That sounds like a plausible origin of this 'Voice-verified' thing. What is caters mostly, I suspect, is the group founder's wallet and their perceived sense of authoratah.

Excuse me, good people. Going in-world right now to retrieve my well-deserved 'Dog-verified' tag.

They inform the phobic that either their birth-assigned gender matches their SL avatar, of that they could afford really good voice modulation software......

Talk to me about shareholding.

I once spent a bit of time in Gor as a disgusting-looking av in crap freebie silks, submitting to everything and begging everyone for sexual release (they deserved it). But if I were a man, I'd have made a big deal about being an RL woman who was prepared to voice. Then, when requested, I'd have started singing Man! I Feel Like a Woman in falsetto. Fellas, you could have so much fun.

Hm. Does the SL voice morpher let you do falsetto in a man's voice? I may have found the thing that could entice me to go Premium. Although I'd also do it if it could morph me into Yoda.

i use my alts to voice verify , and they always can vouch for me .

All my alts represent all my real life genders.

Also, you should know that while I am happy to <expletive deleted> with your mind, I don't wish to <expletive deleted> with your avatar.

Those voice morphers aren't very good. It's much better to just have your voice verified by a friend of the opposite sex.

assuming you have any friends ...

... especially ones of another sex.

With my female avatar, I'd always say "Don't ask me to voice. You'd be disappointed. I sound like a mix of Nico and Tanita Tikaram." 😎

Why would that combination disappoint? Throaty, deeper female voices are gorgeous. Nina Simone! I get a bit tired of female characters in cartoons always sounding like they're on helium. That's why Rainbow Dash is my favourite My Little Pony. Also why the British cast of Paw Patrol is so much better than the original. Actual realistic, non-helium voices. Skye is Welsh. Zuma is Brummie. Oh God I'm a parent.

I've always had positive responses to voicing but I think it's more the accent than anything else. I once had a guy beg me to swear on voice. Apparently "it would sound even dirtier coming from you." Thank you, I think.
