Can I remove the black lines in the uploaded example?

Context:

  • To block out ugly neighbours, I've put some 'cubes' around my block, made them as slim as possible, made the 5 unused edges transparent (so neighbours can't see them blocking views...etc) and then filled the used side of the 'cubes' with images containing transparencies at the top.
  • I don't think there are black lines at the top of these images. However, black lines appear around the seams of my images, which take away from the overall aesthetics.
  • I want to somehow remove those black lines - is this possible?

if you absolutely sure that the other 5 sides are set to 100% transparent then try setting the visible face texture horizontal and vertical scales to less than 1.00. Like 0.99, 0.98 etc til the lines are moved off the edges of the face

The bit at the top is actually the very beginning of a repeat of the texture - in other words, it's the bottom of the image shown at the top.

Scaling down is one way to fix it. It should also work to shift the vertical offset slightly. See how many decimal points scaling and offsets each have on your viewer. If scaling is to two decimal points (.99) and offsets is to three (-.001), you can get finer control through the offset. Two decimal places and you'll lose a noticeable bit off the top of that tree, three decimal places and you'll have to look really closely to see the loss.

Another way is to make sure Stretch Textures and Scale Both Sides are ticked off, then edit the top only down until the black line disappears. That's a just a different way of scaling but it makes sure the gain is entirely at the point you want it without having to make further adjustments.

If you're making the textures yourself, adding a small amount of alpha to the top and bottom saves all of these sorts of headaches inworld.

Thanks Mollymews and Bitsy Buccaneer... both 100% correct (and really quick too - proving there's still community in SL)!!!

While I'm not a great designer, the area's very much for me (personal connection with it). I'm really grateful for your responses as getting rid of the lines has added a significant amount of value to my enjoyment of the land.
