I'm struggling to remember the brand right now (it started with a K) but she made a pair of boots that were in two parts... the foot and then the leg and somehow they came together in the perfect fit. Kenzi? Kenza?

I think they were the first thing I owned where I had to contact the creator to tell her how much I loved them and begged for her to make more.

And not quite as far back as a lot of these memories, but when I got my Lolas... I loved them so much.

Do they look like this?

There's nothing like wandering around the grid and being blown away by the impressive artistry of such sims like Tempura Island, InSilico, and AM Radio.

If there is anything I could magically bring back it would be the builds of AM Radio. His builds were amazing not only in their appearance but in the emotions he stirred deep within the viewer. I literally spent hours just soaking up the ambiance he created in each of his builds.

I feel nearly the same in regard to the jewelry creations of Random Calliope. I don't think anyone could torture a prim like he could.

"The Far Away" is still here, co-curated by Ziki Questi and Kinnaird. If you ever see me logged-in, I'm probably out sneezing in the wheat,  trying to steal the locomotive, or slicing cheese for the fruit plate, on the violin strings.

Yes, I've been there many times but not recently. Ziki and I have chatted in the past. Here's an interesting feature about Jeff Berg, better known to us as AM Radio. https://www.polygon.com/features/2014/7/9/5825936/second-life-am-radio

Sounds like a virtual version of the Black Mirror episode Nosedive.

That's exactly what I thought when I watched it ... also in "white Christmas" ep of "black mirror" people getting block reminded me of Sl as well which was scary

Thanks for this, Blush. Usually, Hamlet's writing makes me want to slap him (in a nonviolent kind-of-way, of course!) but this piece was actually quite good, and resonated with me.

Like anyone else from that period, I connected really strongly and at a pretty deep emotional level with AM Radio's installations, and spent many many hours at them -- particularly the Faraway, where I'd camp out in the grass to write. (And yes, I still visit it occasionally, sometimes to chat with Maddy or others there.) He was enormously important to me. (I do remember seeing him occasionally at his installations, surrounded by mostly female avis. I was always too shy to approach him.)

It's funny. In terms of my own feelings about "art," I actually prefer the work of Bryn Oh. AM Radio's work is too romantic, too personal, and above all, too nostalgic for me to embrace it fully at an intellectual level. It's a bit rose-coloured-glasses, in a wistful "it's all gone now" kind-of-way, and not critical or subversive enough. But there's no question that emotionally he hit me really really powerfully.

I seriously wonder if the loss of his work isn't a contributor, as well as a symptom, of the general malaise that hit SL around 2011, and from which it still has not fully recovered.
