How would you make premium accounts more appealing?

After all the kerfuffle regarding premium accounts, I started thinking about how they could be made more appealing.
Some of the current benefits aren't that appealing to many, some only to a few.
What would you like to see offered, what would make you become a premium member right away?

I used to be one of those people for whom the land benefits weren't appealing at all. Now that they've added land that is more like estate land, with nice landscaping and community standards, I am tempted more every day. When getting one of the new Linden Homes isn't like the Oklahoma Land Rush, I'm pretty sure I'll be subscribing.

As suggested a number of times in different posts elsewhere (by others, not just me) the ability to chose your 'perk', so like a custom premium package. Want land, tick the box, what more groups, tick that box, (and maybe the premium adjusts depending on the cost to LL to implement that perk). I think it would be the best way to please the most number of users.  But alas they've already said that it just isn't possible to do that:(

Personally, right now I think the ability to pick the type of new home you want, rather than have a land grab scenario..(so enough of each type theme...)

Premium is hardcoded in as a single on/off state though out the entire SL codebase. It's going to be enough work for them to add a second tier of premium and it not break everything for everyone else.

The only easy changes are things that are already variable (L$ payments, tier, group slots) or things that aren't available / premium dependent (grid wide experiences)

Grumpity has stated elsewhere that a roll your own option is not going to happen.

I suspect for a lot of basics the answer will be there is nothing they can offer to tempt us to take up premium without it being something unfeasible.

I have no interest in mainland I prefer renting on a private island

I have no need of extra groups

I have never gone "Oh if only I could get support"

No interest at all in the gifts

The stipend would only be an expensive way of buying lindens

I have no interest in experiences in fact I avoid experiences that others set up.

I really can't think of a single thing they could offer me. If they try and take something off me that I need to function such as for example saying you need to be premium to rent on a private island then I would more likely leave than sign up as I don't take kindly to coercion. Most of what SL is for me is social and I can't see anything they can do to enhance that for me. (I don't find groups useful for social bonding)

I am already Premium, so this reply is based upon if I will upgrade to the Super Premium that's coming (soon).

To only increase the stipend to, let us say 500§L every week, would not be enough. It would be a weak smile and a polite decline.

Double the land to 2048m, now we are talking. You really got my attention.

Have some luxury new LH the same size as today, 1024m, but with double LI? That would have me find money for an upgrade, almost no matter what.

Broader and (for me) more appealing choices of community living for Linden Homes.

The idea of living in a real community would be very attractive: I used to live in/operate my store out of places that were like that: Mill Pond, Hallelujah, and Chilbo. But I'm not interested, myself, in suburban or Pleasantville type communities.

An urban community, for instance, with terraces, townhouses, or even nicely sized flats, would be exciting, especially if there were provision for galleries, clubs, and nicely laid-out public parks.

I am already premium but what I would like to see as a perk ...

  • More L$ stipend is not that important unless it goes WAY up.
  • An SL email address might be cool.
  • IM portal for offline communication.  Maybe couple that with the address above.
  • I know this is never going to happen but a way to tie multiple accounts into one super account. We would log in and then pick our character like most MMO's.  One log in at a time.  All characters are premium.  Maybe even a shared folder in inventory.
  • Personal music streams that would override the land settings.  Take your tunes with you.  I know you can do that with virtually any web browser now but why not set it for your character instead?
  • How about a monthly Premium Member Newsletter?  What's in the works, status of the project viewers, upcoming major events, and maybe a personal letter from a Linden of the month.  "Hi, I'm Don'tBlameMe Linden.  I have spent 3 days stomping out a bug in group chat and it's driving me nuts!"
  • And finally ... multiple partners.  Maybe family names.  Or -- dare I even mention it -- guilds (groups with no ownership tags).

Oh, and I would like Premium Landing Points just like we have Premium Sandboxes.

The current landing points are pretty scuzzy; the place where I end up if my Region is restarting.

One basic account says thank you.

Might be? Or would it simply be another annoying expenditure of resources that takes time away from improving SL?

This would be very good.

Cool idea . . . sort of. I don't know: personally I kind of like the sense that I and Laskya have semi-different identities, even if in practice they're both the same. But that's just an intangible, and a personal thing. A shared inventory folder would be great, but I can see creators screaming foul (with some justification?).

Sure! But tunes from where? Radio

Cool idea! Again, that sense of community, right?

REALLY interesting idea! Why on earth not!

Both really interesting ideas . . . but as both last names and groups seem to be creating major issues for LL as they are currently constituted, I can't see them happening in the near future.

I really like the idea of guilds though: there are lots of communities, especially those associated with land, that try to work around hierarchies, either as collectives or as simple democracies. Current group structures make this really difficult to do.

I can get on board with having unlimited free uploads, and snapshots, that would be great for the content creators and hobbyists alike.  They already got me with the stipend and 1024 land allowance.

I would like a concierge service to sort out my inventory, and a tutor to help me get dressed without ending up with either skin showing in odd places or being invisible in spots, or both....

If I have to have more than one premium alt because of the 'group land tier thing' why can't they trade items back and forth without all that fuss about permissions?

And, someday, I would like a last name so I could pretend I've been here forever...

And, could someone teach me Blender?

For me it would be quite simple.

Premier status for me plus two alts

Stipend for my main

Access to  Premium sims, and priority access for me and my two alts.

No home, no concierge, no increase in groups etc etc.

If that was available now for a bit less than current cost I would join.

How would I make premium more appealing? I've already said a last name as promised. A bento luck dragon cuz reasons one being I already have a pony but it doesn't fly. A homestead would be nice, yanno to fly around on a bento luck dragon. The ability to tunnel under the ground and meet the moles. The power to rez anywhere not just in rez zones. 3000L per week and a Snoopy Snow Cone Machine!

Being able to have multiple (at least 2) experiences would be appealing to me. One for production use (currently just teleporter portals), and one to play with (feel like being a ball in a pinball machine?). I like having 90 days of transactions stored because I tended to forget to collect them every 30 days. Those two are the reasons I'll continue with premium now that it will no longer be profitable (L$400/week stipend from 2006). The increased offline IM count is nice, but wouldn't be necessary if I dropped some of the over-chatty groups. The rest of it isn't important to me.

All great suggestions, but these two are my faves. I miss the messages feature we used to have at my.secondlife.com, but more importantly, I'd love to share inventory with my alts. The poor things are all in old system bods/clothes because I steal their stipends. They'd be so happy to sport some of my spare mesh heads!

I really like that idea too. Though I'd prefer a 19thC village with a pub, town square and trails for horseback riding... eh, I can dream...

I've rented in themed communities before but it's inconvenient to pay weekly rents and, they may close or change management with little or no warning.

I am actually thinking why I am still keeping my account on premium level. „Free” land is not really free, the possibility to easily get to popular and crowded events is not needed anymore because more and more events have mirror or cam sims. I usually don’t even notice the stipend because I buy much more linden dollars monthly. I don’t really care about the rest.

What Scylla said about urban community would be a good idea. I like also what Rhonda proposes (especially one „superaccount” for multiple characters - it is a standard for mmo games - and separate account name from avatar name).

I would add an option to buy a homestead without having full sim first. Maybe a possibility to buy abandoned mainland without creating a ticket and waiting 5 days to have it resolved.

And it can't, a stipend covering more than your subscription fee would only lead to a devaluation of the L$.

Can't really happen because some form of throttling has to be put in place to the growth of the asset server. If anything larger textures should cost more to reflect their impact on rendering and rez time.

Absolutely devil's advocate here, but you could get rid of a lot of copyright related problems by making mesh upload premium only >_>

1. I think an interesting addition to premium that could work in the Lindens favor also is that as a premium you could 'test' a region, like test driving a car, you can have a full region for one week to see if it is something that you really want to commit to, how the land tools work if you have never  had that kind of access before, if size works for your needs or if your imagination of what it would take to fill it comes up short etc.

Giving the people that kind of option may have more taking the leap than hesitating, and also even though you do not have to be premium to buy, purchasing a month of premium to have the option is a small price to pay to realise that it is or isn't for you.

I understand people can rent full sims etc, but this would just be a little more in your own moment kind of thing.

2. SL email I have mentioned before and so agree on that very much, I think it is something we have been missing all along.

It's an interesting idea but that's something estate owners would want regardless.

I'm still of the opinion that the target for region ownership shouldn't be individual users. People constantly claim that land is too expensive but that's usually because they are shooting straight for region ownership, which was never priced to be personal space anyway. That's what the premium 1024 sqm allotment is for, and it's pretty cheap in comparison.
