Sadly, it seems the Memorial Park's flower planting system is ... glitchy.

Yes. As noted in a couple of threads in the forums, it's on our radar. The technology there is quite out of date, so it will take more than a quick band-aid to bring the park up to present standards.

Good luck in updating it!

Yes, I had a very good friend on SL who died. We swapped RL addresses (she was in the US) and posted each other birthday gifts in RL (both Geminis ) and even talked about meeting one day. We had loads of spooky RL coincidences too… She never mentioned she was seriously ill ☹️  But looking back, she would have rather have jumped under a bus than admit to being upstaged by dodgy cells 🙂

I never really thought about a SL ceremony or memorial…after her parents contacted me and told me she'd gone, I just felt numb and was unable to enjoy SL at all, so I quit for a while.

I didn't know them so well, but some people in various builder groups and clubs would stop logging in, then I'd hear a while later they'd died. Also, the guy who used to dress as Batman and do the RFL events, if anyone remembers him (from around 2011-2013?)  Somebody told me he died too...

Death sucks 🤜💀

A few years ago we lost a performer who played at my club in world. He was coming back into SL and was working on booking him back on the club's schedule. When I logged in one day a friend PMed me he was gone and there was a tribute going on for him. He was about to do a show and after he logged in he passed. His avie was there for a couple of days until his wife shut his PC off. He is sorely missed.

Has anyone else had people in the game pass away in real life that you knew and liked? I have been to  a second life funeral of a person last year that went to jazz sim a lot that I  went to. The people showed his real life pic and sat in chairs and said on voice what they liked about him.I  went to a memorial of a animal breeder on sl who was also liked by a lot of people. people rode horses around a few laps in to remember her and say what they liked about her. a kittycats and biobreeds breeder recently passed away also in April. two sims have a memorial of her.  I  know this is a virtual world, but it is sad to see people pass away in real life. all three times I  heard from people who knew the person in real life. if any of you lost friends on here did you have a memorial also?

Hi Deadly!  Fancy meeting you here and not at the Cellar 🙂

Counting my Original, I have been in Sl since 2005 and have lost several friends to the Grim Reaper (that I know of).

Sadder are the people who just went offline with no word. I’ve found out belatedly about two of those who passed; one being tragically murdered while out protecting her RL community.

I have an arrangement with a RL friend who is also in SL to handle that on my behalf. When I finally go offline in RL, she will make sure that my SL Partner knows that I am “unavoidably detained” but never willingly abandoned her. That sounds glum, but it makes me feel better.

Maybe we should all say our final farewells right now in a new thread. In case we don't get the luxury to do so.

I seem to recall that there was a thread for that...

EDIT: Yes! Here it is...

Motoko Moonwall, one of the most active builders of the Abyss Observatory in Sansara. A brilliant creator, and the first and only ball-jointed doll friend I ever had. I miss their humor and energy. You can visit their memorial and read their last words in English near the cafe in the sim. I consider the observatory as one of the greatest treasures of the Old Continent.

Shady was such a dear friend, I nearly quit SL because it hurt too much to be on and know my friend could no longer be there.Even now, five and a half years later, it still hurts when I visit the memorial the Tinies put up in his memory.

You are not alone TyVulpine... 🐸🤗💚💛💚

Unfortunately I have noticed especially within our Tiny & Dinkie Community of Friends that most of the members are in SecondLife because of Real Life Medical Conditions which stop them from being able to socialise in Real Life. I know this is one of the reasons I am in SecondLife as I am Terminally ill and I still want to be able to talk with friends and socialise as if it was in person in Real Life. So I thank communities such as Raglan Shire and Isle of Wyrms for having dedicated sims for our communities to socialise in while we can still be active online at least in a social way. 🐸💚💛💚

Beatrice Serendipity.  She and Warm Clarity created the Ghee brand name some years ago but before that she was a very popular model.

The amazing woman behind that avatar passed away a few weeks ago.

Before that it was Bitch2Hunt4.  She worked for Carrie's Lingerie and was one of the sweetest people ever to log in to Second Life.

With my luck, I’d post a condolence to someone’s Obit thread and be immediately subjected to Public “Necroposting” Shame :-)

I don't even remember posting on the Write Your Own SL Obituary thread, but looks like I killed it :/
