I visited a location, once.

I now get object IM's, inventory offers of notecards and the same landmark over and over.

Forever.

There is no way to unsubscribe and stay unsubscribed.

I had that happen once.  I dug through the chat log to find the inventory offer.  I then weny to the object's location and blocked it and the owner.  That took care of it.

I've actually had to do that a few times as some of Subscribes that I've done in the past seem to have no way to Unsubscribe.

And only stops the spam when I'm online because all blocking is done in the viewer.

I went through that, on multiple occasions. Usually with Events, and a few schools in SL. My biggest annoyance was that I tried going in group,  I won't name the place. But I asked 3 or 4 times, to get out over 5 or 6 months. I got a tonne of LMs to what was supposed to be the unsubscriber, only for it to turn out to be someone's land. After a bit, they accused me of harassment, and ejected and banned me from the group. The owner messaged me, and it seems like the only way they will take you out, is if you get banned. I got a couple of small events, and I TPed to that place once, took myself off. Mysteriously, I got back on the subscriber list. So after going back to the place and doing it again. It actually stopped. The third annoying time, was with another event. I had never been to it and never had intended to. But I decided to go, to find the terminal to unsubscribe. There was none, and again, I had to talk to the owner. He was alright and took me off. And I haven't had problems since then.  Another big one that bugs me, is when events Spam you with group invites. So you will get 3 boxes on your screen, asking if you want to join. Try to block the thing, and it keeps on popping up. Why can't they place kiosks at these events, with both a subscribe and join option? I dislike being bombarded with all that.

Not really a mystery. It could have been something as simple as a scripted welcome mat you walked across without knowing what it would trigger. There are some creators who use such things and then don't want to have to deal with people who were added to the list without the customer's consent. Been there, done that. I think his ears are still burning after all these years. but I'm off the list. Permanently. lol

I honestly don't know how people get away with this. I know this is a virtual world and stuff. But the end user, being me. The person behind the screen should have a say,  in what lists they are put in, and what subscriptions I'm a part of. Currently, I only subscribe to two companies in SL. However, this behaviour needs to stop. I don't want to know about your school, that offers classes. May I add, they were a Spanish SL school. I primarily speak English. I want to be able to choose what events and companies I subscribe to. Not buy an item, and automatically be put on a list, whether it be on MP or in world. I had it before, where I bought something on MP, and  I got the item all fine and dandy. A week or two later, I am getting spam from this store. Essentially there should be rules implemented, where these sneaky scripts. Shouldn't be allowed, subscribing to something, should be consent based. End of story. No one should be able to go to a sim, put your name on a list of random people they choose and put you in their subscribomatic thingy. There are a lot of dirty underhanded ways they do this, but LL should really put a stop to this.

Everyone! Quick! Get under your desks, place your heads between your knees, cover your heads with your arms and kiss your butts goodbye! I agree with Hale! :o

I don't know whether to take this seriously or as a sarcastic remark. It's hard to understand ones intent via text. If you do actually agree with me, I appreciate it. :)

I do agree with you. It was not meant to be sarcastic at all. It was meant to be amusing.
