Question

I've been premium for years, and always before my tier and annual subscription is taken automatically from my paypal account.  Today I find a 'There is a problem with your account' notice, and a request to manually authorize my tier payment.  So I just hit the usual paypal button and it all went through - no paypal issue.

What has changed?  Has anyone else had this?  Do I need to raise a ticket?

I had that happen once about 6 months ago.  Exact same process and it threw me into a momentary panic. I have never had it again and everything has gone through normally since

Along with Rolig's idea, I have had this happen with OTHER companies when my credit card DATE had expired. Same number, new date  and security digits needed. Not sure if that applies.

Also in my state if you don't write a check on a bank account (checking or savings) within a year the bank sends out an "are you alive" message with a note to sign and return. If you do not renew your claim in YOUR money, the state can take it all. You can see the advantage to the state (sigh).  There could be some similar rule that The Lab needs to comply with.
