Rolig Loon 22,567 Posted August 16 (edited) Much as I love exploring as a mermaid, today felt like a day to wander along the land side of the coastline. I started at Hartnell and made my way south, staying on sand as much as I could, to make it easier for the horse. There weren't many people outside, which is a shame. It was a beautiful day. Rolig Loon 22,567 Posted August 17 I'm not the first one to discover this beautiful mermaid hideaway on the seafloor. It's HUGE! We could have a ball in here. It's in a SSPE region that is still being developed, so I'm not sure whether everything's done yet, but here's a glimpse for anyone who's curious ... 25

That's what I thought when I found it.. Literally a ball (or any underwater event) It could be like a theme party spot for all things that swim. So much fun!

Dyna Mole 814 Posted August 21 Thanks, @CoffeeDujour. I went and looked just now. It looks like the region's server had a bad day. As soon as Lindens are awake in the morning, someone will do a rollback to recover all the missing stuff. Meanwhile, tell anyone you see not to rez anything new tonight, because it will all revert when they do a rollback. Thank you for your patience. 8

Rolig Loon 22,567 Posted August 22 (edited) I was inspired by @Alyona Su's post earlier today, because she described exactly where I and a crowd of daring mermaids gathered yesterday to begin exploring the gigantic maze under the sea to the west of the Lindens' new Pickle Island. I had a feeling that I might be able to find the mysterious sunken ship that I have been searching for all summer, and maybe even it's fabulously rich treasure. And I was right! There it is! Well, not exactly a treasure ship, but a very exciting trawler. That's just the sort of ship that pirates might use to hide the fact that they were carrying booty. I had a feeling that they had been planning to hide the treasure in the maze when their trawler was somehow damaged and sank to the bottom. So, I went searching in the maze ... And ..... ... found it! A HUGE chest full of gold coins! I'm We're rich! Bellisserians will never go hungry again! Now, if we can only keep this a secret, just between us ...... 🤐 Edited August 22 by Rolig Loon typos. as always.

Rolig Loon 22,567 Posted August 22 This was such a lovely day, I decided to wander on dry land instead of heading to the seafloor again right away. It was a good choice. My horse loved the hills of Amram and Learmont. The ground is a little rocky and it's steep in places, but not hard for a sure-footed horse to handle ... ... and there's still plenty of grass to nibble on until you get to the highest points. The view from the top is breathtaking. Beyond the hills, the land is all undeveloped so far. Some day, all of that grassland will have houses or trailer camping areas in it, I suppose. For now, it's a wonderful place to let a horse gallop as fast as he wants, and for me to enjoy the wind in my hair. I think I'll ride down and do just that.

Rolig Loon 22,567 Posted August 24 The moles have designed Bellisseria with parks and gardens in some surprising places. You're not likely to be aware of them if you teleport from place to place, or even if you fly. When I explore, though, I prefer to do it at ground level. You see so much more! Just this morning, for example, I was wandering down a street in Wolfeboro and looked up at this bridge .... I got curious about what was up there, so I went looking for an access road. It turns out not to be a road at all, but a paved path, which starts in Oldridge and runs across much of Wolfeboro. It's not hard to find, but you do have to poke around a bit. The path is an easy walk (or scooter ride), except for one imposing set of stairs. My scooter handles them nicely, but a car would be out of the question (which is just as well, if you ask me). And once you're up there, the view is lovely. The path is lined with flowering shrubs. I swear that I could hear birds and squirrels, but maybe that's my vivid imagination, In any case, it's just where I would expect suburban wildlife. And then you descend along a winding slope, back into the streets of Wolfeboro, leaving the park high behind you, hidden in plain sight ......

Rolig Loon 22,567 Posted August 25 So far, I haven't heard a ground swell of people telling me to please stop posting travelogues, but I really ought to slow down. I'm just in a fidgety, late summer mood, so I've been exploring a lot recently. It's hard not to share some of the fun sights I've seen in Bellisseria. Today, my horse and I wandered up a narrow river in Peachtree, envying homeowners who have parcels perched high on its banks. It's a deep valley with grassy slopes and large oak trees, hard to explore except with a boat or as a mermaid because there are no paths at water level. The best you can do is look down from above. Once you get to headwaters, though, you can approach from a small side street that leads down to a cul-de-sac and a quiet pocket beach. This is clearly a favorite neighborhood spot, although I didn't see anyone else there this afternoon. Families with small kids have come to play in the sand and sun themselves. Someone made a really good sand castle with just a plastic pail and a cheap shovel. Maybe the moles could recruit her. My horse was more impressed by the water than the sand, and kept eyeing the tall grass, so I decided to let him graze. I guess sand castles aren't his thing. That's fine. Let him eat grass. To be honest, I was happy to stop exploring for a while and enjoy the beach. (Don't ask me where I carried a change of clothing or how I redid my hair on the spur of the moment. This is SL. We don't explain mysteries.) The water is lovely cool, but I should warn that there's a steep dropoff not far from shore. Keep the kids close. Or maybe leave them at home and relax all by yourself. Me? I don't need kids anyway. I've got a horse. .... somewhere. 16
