Is there anyway to change what house you have chosen if you dont like it? other than down grading to a free membership and then re-upgrading?

Pick up all your furniture and decor items (important) then stand in the middle of your house and ABANDON it. You can then choose another house (five tries each day) until you find one you like. 

The new Linden Homes aren't available yet, in case that was your plan.

Adding one detail to Chic's answer:  To abandon your house, use World > Parcel Details, and click the Abandon button in the window you'll see.
