•Profiles that state something along the lines of “don’t talk to me if you don’t have a decent mesh avatar.”

•Furries who “refuse to talk to humans”. I get it if it’s for roleplay purposes but it comes off as a bit rude when it’s just because. One of my friends invited me to a club that he works at a few weeks ago to introduce me to a few of his friends. I was the only one in a human Avis because I can’t make a decent looking furry av to save my life haha. He tried to introduce me and get us all talking and then one of them outright said “sorry___, But I don’t talk to humans. You know that.” Mind you, the club wasn’t strictly furry only. It was VERY awkward and I just spoke to him in IM’s and eventually left because I just didn’t like the hostility.

• That one friend or person who always plays music over yours. 

•Gesture spam, especially those goat scream ones.

• When you tell someone that you’re busy and they ask for a tp anyway. 

• People who have to list a detailed timeline of their SL and RL relationship.

Oh and I forgot to mention the people who IM you to tell you they’ve derendered your clothing because they “admire your body” then proceed to send you the pictures that they took and then get offended when you don’t find it flattering. (I don’t know about you guys but I always find this extremely creepy) 

Also when someone cams you for a really long time. This one isn’t that big of a deal but it makes me paranoid because 9 times out of 10, this is followed by an IM containing the line “nice body ;))”

As coffee points out. There is just something about a decade old avatar with a completely blank profile and NPIOF screams "I am an alt here in your region to do something I wouldn't dare do on my main".

After that it's the porn filled profile, real life porn to near the top of the WHYYYYY list, but even SL porn filling people's picks is gauche.

Then: "I don't do ....." statements be it Drama, @geplay, sex, boyfriends, collars.... they are red flags that the person does exactly those things. If you really don't do those things then there really is no need to tell people.

And the statements of hatred. I had one person come into my club region with a statement that said "I hate short people and guys with tattoos". He was banned of course. His alts then started appearing avatar by avatar (easy to spot this person, he has been in SL for more then a decade, speaks "Englisch, German and Dutch" and always wears the same nasty freebee hair, plus always puts a picture of some woman avatar in his real life tab) so they get banned, and banned, and banned. 

Eventually he asks "why do you keep banning all my alts?"
To which I happily reply "I am short, and I have a tattoo"

Last: "Send notecards as my IMs are always capped" (when you know they are so nasty they have zero friends)

Sorry if I misunderstood your last one but I’ll usually ask people to send notecards instead of IM’s because I truly do miss people’s IM’s when I’m logged out sometimes OR if I’m logged in but crash shortly after or right when they send an IM.

Okay. First off, F'K those people. Someone had IM'd me I guess a few months ago while I was at some beach. They said, "lovely tattoo... " and the only one I was wearing at that time was one that said "Kiss Me" on my Pelvis and was completely hidden by my shorts. It IS extremely creepy and that comes from someone who enjoys showing off her avatar. /shudders

I think a lot of people forget that group notices count towards the offline IM cap. They see a note about sending notecards and assume it's a "haha yes I am so popular and so inundated with praise from my adoring fans that my inbox overflows, woe is me!", when in reality it's more of a "if I don't clear my notices daily then I drown in DJs sending 4 notices per slot". Even with premium I don't even last two days before getting capped, with 0 actual IMs. If I disable notices from a certain photography group, that time doubles

At that time you had violated TOS as it wasn't stipulated in the TOS that it's ok to send chat logs to a Linden. It's in there now because of all the constant arguing and bickering over if you could or couldn't. You always could, just the TOS didn't specifically say you could. Now it does.

I used to have a "send a notecard" message in my profile, especially when I was a business owner. I don't always see IM's. They don't always go to my email. No, I am not super popular. It's not like I am getting hundreds of messages. But I would feel bad for that one person that I could have helped.

 

Nowadays, where I am more a consumer than a creator, I do have a couple autoresponses:

• (General) "If I don't respond, it probably means I am tabbed out or AFK. Please give me a few minutes or drop a notecard"
• (Unavailable/Busy) "Building, so most likely my windows are minimized. Leave a message after the beep, use an alternative way to message me (ie: Facebook, email, etc...) or come find me!" If I am building something, or organizing my black hole of an inventory, I usually minimize everything, including chat and get so focused on what I am doing that I am just oblivious.

I am terrible about getting up afk and walking off to go do something iRL. Or I tab out and forget that I was even logged in to SL. I see the "Please give me a few minutes or drop a notecard" as the SL version of iRL someone getting my voicemail and hearing "please leave a message or text me."

But in the spirit of hypocrisy;

1 ) Blank profiles. Especially in accounts that have been around for years. I understand the need to clean and purge the backdated rot, but blank, seriously? 

2 ) Picks that mock picks, as if your biting sarcasm somehow makes you look more intelligent or witty than anyone else.

3 ) The whole ASCII jumbled mess of letters that are supposed to spell something - but basically just confuses my old lady eyes to the point that I can't understand.

4 ) The whole "I don't care what ToS says, I will... (insert your own laws here)". Reminds me of Eric Cartman of Southpark; "Whatever! I do what I want!" Badassery at it's finest.

5 ) "Owned by" or the equivalent. I don't quite care. If their name is in your partner box, that's good enough for me.

6 ) BAD SPELLING. NO PUNCTUATION. ALL CAPS (or all lowercase)! *lols*

7 ) Real Life anything. I know this is a grey area for some, but I don't want to see your photos. There's a fine line between the mystery of a totally blank profile, and the raised-brow scrutiny of a photo of your ripped twenty year old self, or your car, or your dog, or your partner, or child, or anything else that makes me wonder if THEY know they're being publicized here. Or if this is baiting, catfish style. Or maybe you really just love stock photos and use your profile as a virtual scrapbook?

8 ) I'm leaving this one blank because I'm old, tired, and crochety, and I'm sure something is going to tick me off today that I was okay with yesterday, so I'll add that here for future prosperity.

9 ) I can't remember. But I'm sure it was worth mentioning, that's how irritated the peeve made me.

10 ) Profiles that list things ^ .

 

Now I can justify my own until the proverbial cows come home, but no need to. Though now I think about it, all the above probably explains why some profiles are indeed blank. So they don't peeve anyone off! 😆

1 )  If my profile is entirely blank except for the text that says "Blank profiles are EPICFAIL!" - Is it still blank? Hahaha (Is what I sometimes do - so it's a half-serious question, but see #9 before answering Hahaha))

2 ) Because oxymoronic cyclical paradigms are funnnn. But they are prolly just trying to annoy everyone else.

3 ) Ditto to a ditto of a ditto of the most high. I just ignore those and call them by their account name.

4 ) Well, actions speak louder than words, and if the action warrants it, I'll drop an AR in a heartbeat. Then let's see how much you care about TOS. LOL

10 ) Profiles that list things are fun because LISTS. But profiles that proffer countless mushy, dumbass quotes communicate to me the utter lack of any creativity of the profile-owner, whatsoever. A lot like people who link YouTube videos in posts expecting us to actually play them, rather than WRITING WHAT YOU THINK, you lazy people. Oh, wait - that's forums and not a profile, huh? Okay: then the same thing in profiles: dumbass YouTube links.

• Weird fonts...as a multilingual person I can`t help but read those names as they are supposed to be read considering the letters used, sure, I do end up laughing often so ok...maybe that one is not so bad after all...
• Bitchy profiles with a number of do-s and don`t-s 
• any sort of wish list 
• BDSM test results 
• SL is SL /RL is RL 
• empty profiles 
• disclaimers (the IM thing)
• voice, pic etc verified
• any type of statement implying the person is superior to others 
• overused quotes
• links that change your appearance

not to be all negative, I appreciate witty content, even rants as long as delivery seems intelligent and original....

They look like secondlife:///app/wear_folder/?folder_id=<id here> normally, but it's possible to put custom url instead as well. If you click it, it will replace your current outfit with content of the said folder. I believe it should be library items that everyone have in their inventory, otherwise it won't work for anyone else, but the owner of the folder. So the worst thing that can happen is someone putting a bunch of ancient library items on you, but it's more annoying than harmful. Most commonly used by "fun people" (the ones who are only fun to themselves, but usually quite obnoxious for everyone else), like "click here to see my RL photos" or "click below to receive free stuff".

Oh, great. I'm unlikely to click anything in a random's profile but thank you for the heads up. I'm surprised that there's anything that could replace your clothing without using RLV. I don't really understand how that works but I'm not technical. Bet those people are a barrel of laughs.

I have some alts that literally do have no friends who's IMs get capped. IMs can get capped from group notices or even transaction notices. I've discovered an alt who's IMs were capped due to notices saying that the IMs were capped...

 

A big annoyance is usually the blank profile.

The other one that gets me is when it has a screenshot of 2+ people and none of them is clearly the 'subject' so I can't tell which one is that avatar...

But the biggest is anytime I see a RL photo in either of the SL or RL tabs or even in a Pick. You break 4th wall on me, I'm out.

Several other things that used to annoy me are things I actually now do in my own profile... so I guess I got over those.

There are lots of things that annoy me when combined with actions - like anyone with a name in the 'partner' field who is hitting on me or anyone else or sexing it up with someone who's name is not the name in that field.

Or people who say "don't XYZ with me" that are XYZing at me... <- pretty much anything for that.

I'm amazed people actually still read profiles to be honest. And funny considering a good percentage actually don't bother and head straight to the pick-up line before nary a hello is even exchanged (then wonder why their attempts at wooing are epic failures). But to get to the point perhaps only one person DOES care what we think.

Profiles that say “I’m an A-hole or a Bee. Deal with it” or something to that effect. I mean if you’re admitting that.....

When you get enough pet peeves in one profile, they turn into red flags.
