Not peeves as much as whys?

As coffee points out. There is just something about a decade old avatar with a completely blank profile and NPIOF screams "I am an alt here in your region to do something I wouldn't dare do on my main".

After that it's the porn filled profile, real life porn to near the top of the WHYYYYY list, but even SL porn filling people's picks is gauche.

Then: "I don't do ....." statements be it Drama, @geplay, sex, boyfriends, collars.... they are red flags that the person does exactly those things. If you really don't do those things then there really is no need to tell people.

And the statements of hatred. I had one person come into my club region with a statement that said "I hate short people and guys with tattoos". He was banned of course. His alts then started appearing avatar by avatar (easy to spot this person, he has been in SL for more then a decade, speaks "Englisch, German and Dutch" and always wears the same nasty freebee hair, plus always puts a picture of some woman avatar in his real life tab) so they get banned, and banned, and banned.

Eventually he asks "why do you keep banning all my alts?"
To which I happily reply "I am short, and I have a tattoo"

Last: "Send notecards as my IMs are always capped" (when you know they are so nasty they have zero friends)

The profiles where they are partnered with words of undying love for their spouse and they are flirting with other people.

Store owners who don't have their store landmark listed in profile.

Brand new account. Blank profile except for many adult locations in their picks.

There's many, but here's a few i can remember...

  • Pretentious and arrogant profiles indirectly describing themselves as being better than everyone else.
  • Picks filled with family, multiple lovers, one night stands, forgotten friends, etc.
  • Spiritual, political, and philosophical rants, or just rants in general.
  • All the variations of RL = RL, SL = SL.

I don't mind blank profiles too much since it is sometimes better to not know anything about someone.  It also adds to the mystery and curiosity of someone.

😎 All of the above. In particular the gushing quotes which seem to be the choice of the 'experienced vet' guy. Always meaningless fluff.

Then the huge list of adult groups/sims, which are guaranteed to raise my shields...

The guys with a partner showing..........

And badly constructed sentences of course.

But then again, I should spend time on my own profile.......😄😄

"Mess with ____ and i will destroy your world." or some such version as if anyone in SL can do any damage RL to someone.

Usually followed by. "Drama free zone."

This one for me too. I'm always like... "C'mon, instead of trying to act tough better teach your friends/family/etc how to use the block function". Also worth noting that in my 6.5 years in SL I have never met anyone decent who would have had this kind of "threat" in their profile.

And blank profiles as well. Ones with "IM me to find out" or similar kind of line I also count as blank. No need for fully filled picks that tell your (S)life story, but the "I'm so special so YOU have to find out about me by yourself" attitude is pretty terrible in my opinion. Those are usually rocking pretty default-ish looks too, either classic or mesh, but not comment worthy as well.

RL/SL ones don't really bother me, though. It's actually good thing to see right away in my opinion. Saves a lot of time for completely incompatible people (ones who do want to heavily mix SL with RL and ones who just come to SL to relax and roleplay a bit).

  • Unreadable ones (inverted or otherwise fancy lettering): if you want to make it hard to read, how about I don’t read it at all.
  • “Put this in your profile if you care about puppies” (below a mess of ASCII codes so vaguely resembling a dog, you wonder if they really care enough not to have put a damn picture of one).

None of them peeve me unless there is racist or other intolerant hate speech.  Mostly all of the above peeves make me laugh.  The store in merchants profile though is a little infuriating sometimes but then I think if you can't be bothered to let people know, I can't be bothered to search for it and spend my money

- everything written with “fancy font” - this is not fancy, believe me

- “mess with me / my family and you will regret it” - yeah, right

- profiles of people who are proud to be rude and arrogant, descriptions ended with “if you IM me, you play by my rules” - no, I don’t

- too many quotes which really don’t say much about the person or are very cliche. It doesn’t really make people seem smarter / more mysterious or whatever the point is

I remember once there was a phase of Masters declaring in their profiles that any woman would be lucky to have them, and therefore you would have to IM them first if you wanted to interact because they were so very dominant and desirable and masterful and already knee deep in slaves and things like that. Obviously I ignored them all, but for some reason they had a tendency to come and stand very very close to me. Other women had the same experience.

I'm with Cindy, in that these produce eye rolls and the occasional tut rather than genuine anger.

  • Mostly blank profiles; I just assume that your personality is equally blank, and I'm yet to find the exception to that rule
  • That copy-paste pick about how if you put this in your profile then the unicorns will fly down from space heaven and end bullying once and for all; di caprio stare meme
  • Broken English; and I don't mean second language issues, I mean those that just mash their face across the keyboard and assume the rest of us can translate imbecile
  • "I prefer a conversation to lists"; that's fine and all, no one gives a toss about some BDSM tester results you cheesed, but at least give me something to work with here
  • Any variation on "you cannot separate SL from RL"; because it's almost always followed by the inevitable "... and so that is why you need to get on voice with me and send me photos"
  • "I'm here to explore, dance and chat" coupled with two dozen variations of "*****s loose women for dominant males" in his groups; bonus points for the low-effort system avatar that's inevitably connected to this gem
  • Groups connected to RL locations; as you can guarantee that question #2 will be "where are you from?"

So I guess my profile pet peeves are more like red flags about the person themselves, rather than just being a profile-specific problem.

Edit: also I passed 1000 arbitrary internet points, do I get a gold star or something?

Both of these!! Especially the puppy one. It reminds me of chain mail from days of yore, where if you didn’t forward the email then you hated puppies/babies/grannies, etc.

Also, the ones threatening harm to anyone messing with their ‘family’ get an eye roll and a wide berth.

Pet peeves (profiles)? Yass! *grabs bingo card*

I can't remember if my RP limits are still in my profile as I'm not inworld much at the moment, but please do trust me when I say that it really was necessary to tell people that I wasn't prepared to RP mutilation or being sh*t upon, amongst other things. You may not like seeing it in a profile, imagine what it's like coming up against that stuff in aggressive IM the moment you show the slightest hint of RP resistance. I had quite a few men want to cut off my tongue and other parts that, being Dominant Masters, you'd have thought they'd have better uses for.

I also say that I'm back after a hiatus, but that's to explain why the av doesn't look her best. Mesh really does take time.

I'll trust you on that, given the prevalence of 'no sc*t' clauses in people's Picks. The sheer number implies that the practice of 'fecal translocation' seems to be the default. Consequently, I am wondering now whether it would be safer to include a modest opt-out on this matter (no pun intended) in my own profile too. Better yet, I'll just add 'RP: permanent God mode', which is probably more inclusive exclusive.

I've had some very kind people give me a lot of their time regarding mesh...initially I didn't think it looked too complicated, just found an online tutorial. But I keep running into the HUD disappearing or not working, or my body poking through clothes even though the HUD, when it deigns to appear, says that those parts are set to invisible.

I'm starting to get the impression that I may need Firestorm to get this to work. I don't see how applier layers are different to the old skin layer, but apparently they are.

I'm sure there will be exceptions, but generally, I don't think it's something men have to worry about (it doesn't seem to have affected your experience so far). To be fair, there were a couple of female avatars who tried to throw buckets of raw sewage over me as well...for various reasons, I'm not entirely convinced that they were RL women but I've got no way of being certain. I didn't hang around long enough to inform my opinion too comprehensively, especially after the responses I got when I went into a polite IM to explain that this was not something I wanted to do.
