Kirumi Yoshikawa
saw a profile with a Hyper link it said MY TIP JAR when clicked, a tip jar prompt came up with $1, $5, $10 or $20L. I have been in the LSL and cant seem to get any closer than a tip jar that displays a profile image. can someone please direct me to a section where profiles have links or a line of code

You'd be better off asking this in the Scripting sub-forum. You can report your own post and ask a moderator to move it. It's never a good idea to randomly click a link in someone's profile. It's a very common tactic for griefers and smartasses to use these to deform or change other peoples' avatars. That is both advice to you not to click random links on other people's profiles as well as a warning that having your tipjar in your profile rather than rezzed next to you while you're doing whatever it is that you do to earn tips might mean that fewer people will use it to tip you, being wary themselves of clicking random profile links that say they're a tipjar but might easily not be.
Fenix Eldritch
Skell's warning to be wary of random urls is solid advice. If you're curious about a link, it would be a good idea to copy the url and inspect it in a safe environment, like a notepad to make sure it doesn't lead to some malicious place. Having said that, the specific example you are speaking of can be accomplished though the Viewer URI Name Space (link is to the wiki page on it). Suffice to say, you can formulate a Second Life URL (SLurl) that when clicked in the viewer, will bring up the pay prompt window. Here is the syntax to replicate what you saw: [secondlife:///app/agent/paste-your-avatar-key-here/pay TIPJAR] Putting your avatar key in place of the "paste-your-avatar-key-here" segment will complete the SLurl. You can further format the SLur by placing a space after it with the text you want to appear as the link, and then enclosing the whole thing within brackets. The above example, when completed, will look like "TIPJAR" that you can click to bring up the pay-you prompt. Note that when I tested this, I wasn't able to get it to work with the web profiles screens. Though it did seem to work fine with the older profile pop-ups. I'm not sure if something different is needed for the web-profile floaters.

In fact you are more than likely to give the impression that you are a scammer or a griefer.

LL will soon be ditching web profiles & moving back to legacy profiles though. 2
Fenix Eldritch
Oh, that's interesting! Do you have a link to where that was revealed? I'm curious to see any details about that switch. I always liked the look of the old profiles more than the web ones. Edited March 23, 2019 by Fenix Eldritch
steph Arnott
Just now, Fenix Eldritch said: Oh, that's interesting! Do you have a link to where that was revealed? I'm curious to see any details about that. They said they was considering it. They also said they were going to cloud and that has not happened yet. They also said that Sansar was not being paid for by SL residents and then said it was and are now going to invest more into SL. In short, do not believe anything LL say. There's a few references to it at recent Third Party Viewer meetings, which can all be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/user/PanteraPolnocy/videos Inara reports the switch here: https://modemworld.me/2019/02/16/2019-sl-user-groups-7-3-tpv-developer-meeting/ It's pretty much ready apart from a few minor bugs to shake out and a further QA round as far as I'm aware. I've actually been trying out the internal legacy profile viewer. SNEAK PEAK! Isn't it lovely!
Fenix Eldritch
Cool, thanks for those links! Ah those profile floaters take me back... I remember when we had the ratings built into them. From what I read on Inara's blog, it seems what will become of the feeds is up in the air. I hope LL manages to keep them going. Edit: ah maybe that's the "web" tab I just noticed? Whirly Fizzle
The web tab currently displays the web profile/feed. Screenshot is from Firestorm cos I'm too lazy to relog again
