Question

I'm hoping to get some help in understanding how two premium accounts can use their allotted free 1024 M2 on one piece of land. I have read in some research about using a group to do this.  I was wondering how it would actually work. I'm interested in purchasing a 4096 M2 land, once I purchase this and deed it to a group which include two premium accounts, will it register that and I would only have to pay the monthly fees for the remaining 2048 M2 between two accounts? Or exactly how does it work? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not completely certain, but you can DEFINITELY deed your 2 plots (which need to be next to one another) to a group and then it will share in the land and prims. My guess is you would then be charged for the remaining 2048. But I would contact customer support (use the chat function if you can) and find out for sure.

Ideally the two premium accounts first go to the Group's Land tab and each contribute their bonus 1024 sq.m. tier to the group -- plus enough monthly-charged tier to cover the additional land (one of them spends US$13 / month to add another 2048 sq.m. to cover the full 4096*). Then some group owner uses Buy For Group (in About Land) to purchase the whole parcel for the already tiered-up group.

It's way harder to start out trying to buy the land as an individual and then deed it to group. The problem is, unless you're able to divide up the parcel, some individual would have to momentarily have enough tier to own the whole thing for themselves -- which means a US$22 tier fee for that month. Better to never let an individual own the land, but instead use the preceding approach: tier-up the group first and then buy for that group.

____________
* with about 409 sq.m. group bonus area remaining when it's all over

Qie is absolutely correct.  If he keeps this up, I'll have to stop doing Land Calculations altogether!

But to show his steps...

  • Avatar A is Premium and has 1024 sq m. free tier.  So does Avatar B.
  • They form a group
  • We'll assume that Avatar A will do all the transactions
  • The pair want to own a 4096 parcel, and they want to know how much Avatar A will pay in tier.
  • We'll also assume that neither avatar owns any other Mainland, owns a Linden Home, or has donated tier to any other groups.
  • Both avatars open their group's info window, and donate their 1024 tier to the group, using the Land and $ tab.
  • The group now has (1024 + 1024) x 1.10 = 2252 sq m. of tier available to it, due to the 10% group bonus.
  • The land is 4096, so there is 4096 - 2252 = 1844 sq. m. of tier left uncovered.
  • Avatar A increases her tier level to 2048, to have enough tier to cover this shortfall, and donates an additional 1677 sq. m. of tier to the group.  After the 10% group bonus, this will give the group the additional 1844 sq. m. it needs.
  • Avatar A now has 2048 - 1677 = 371 sq m. of tier paid for, but unused.  She can donate it to the group so it can buy even more land or she can buy another parcel of up to 368 sq. m (good luck finding one that size, though!) (The 368 comes from the fact that land comes in 16 sq m. chunks, minimum.  368 is the closest you can get to 371).  OR, Avatar A can find a group that pays her to "rent" her spare tier, to help cover a bit of her ongoing $13.00 USD per month tier payment.
  • Having done all this preparation in advance, Avatar A puts on her tag for the land group, goes to the vacant parcel, and chooses World>Parcel Details.  Then she clicks the Buy For Group button, follows the prompts, and the happy couple can move into their new location!

Rolig's right.  Besides, you cannot deed a Linden Home parcel to a group...only "set to group".

However, pretty soon there will be new Linden Homes on 1024 parcels, with 350 prims available.  We don't know just when, or what the terms and conditions will be.

Hello Lindal Kidd ! May I know it this is also ok to get more prims for a Linden home. I mean two avatars forming a group for the same Linden home?

We now know what the rules for the new Linden Homes will be -- you still cannot deed them to a group, but can only 'set to group'.  However, with each plot now being 1024 instead of 512, you get a doubling of prims per home right off the bat.

We don't have an exact date on when they will be available, but last week Patch told someone that the first set was only 'weeks away' from opening up.

Oh, good point. I hadn't realized the implications of that. If one wants to trade some group-deeded Mainland for a new Linden Premium Home, it won't suffice to drop just 1024 m² of that Mainland but rather ... 1127, maybe? Enough to free up 1024 without the group bonus.

I can't stand having a new Linden Premium Home with 1024 sqm And 351 prims!

nobody forces you to take one, and with two premiums you can buy 2048+10%  mainland in a group setting , when you pick a nice low LI home you'll have a lot more profit from the included tier level in your premiums.

But i have to point to your last words.. in the old situations with 117 LI at the current Linden homes it was possible, with some wise choices what to buy, to get your home fully furnished and decorated.. it won't be a problem at all in the new situation with the double sized parcels, and already for some time the raised LI. There are loads of 1 LI perfect garden decorations. And the homes aren't a lot larger than the old ones. I'm pretty sure, even as decor hoarder, i 'll have more than enough to get my new Linden home usable and fully decorated as i'd want.
