As Jaylin said. If it was a copy, then rez a new one, and when you select edit on it, make sure you have checked 'Select face' in the edit dialog, in the group of radiobuttons on the top left. Then make sure you click the wall you want to change before selecting a new texture. Otherwise you end up, as you've seen, changing the whole house.

There is probably nothing you can do to rescue the copy you already changed, unless the creator included the textures for the different parts. This is unlikely.

Jaylin is right. Most houses are copy/modify/no transfer. You must delete the house and rez a new copy. And, the wallpapers are really difficult to manage as they indeed may paste on other parts of the house. You may create 1 prim panels, apply your wallpaper texture on them,  and adjust the panels to the walls of the room you want to decorate.

Your home was likely linked together.  To change just the walls, you need to select just the walls. It may mean that you unlink each wall and change the texture one at a time.  You can correct your error by unlinking the parts you want to retexture and then relinking when you are done.  If all of this sounds foreign to you,  check one of Torley's build tutorials off the Dashboard, take a build class or two, or ask a builder.

ETA:  Well, sure, if it is a copy, rez a new one and start over.  But be edumacated first .  /me smiles

Everyone has already given the correct repairs, I would just add that, next time (and there will be a next time lol) when you select a texture and the whole linkset changes, don`t go AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! and close everything in panic, just click cancel and no harm done. ;)

Yes Luc it does work.

The difficulty with repairing an oopsy like this one is that you are unlikely to have all the original textures and its every single prim, down to the smallest parts of a doorhandle or light fitting, needing different textures on different prim faces. Its just like having the whole house back at the same default texture. :(
