I was looking for a floating ao

There are mermaid AOs, and also many AOs have swim up/swim down/swim animations.

Plus there are several "swim HUDs" that are really specialty AOs for swimming and floating.  Some work with Linden water, and some work with prim water.  With the latter, you may have to add a script to the water prim.
