Excepted for a handful of creators/investors that are pretty much cemented into the foundations at this point, SL is hard work for very little pay.

It's fine if you see it as a vocation (like getting into a convent i guess) or if you do it because you have an unquenchable creative itch I suppose.

These are true, though there's a third scenario: When wanting something and unable to find it (or things that are close, but lacking) then creating it for yourself. And after doing that, throwing it up for sale. This is why some creator "stores" are very eclectic and even chaotic-looking in terms of the genre of product they offer. I also find that, in most cases, these are the best quality items because they were made with more care (for themselves as opposed to 'mass market good-enough).

This is what I and a long-time friend do. Our market places can be a mish-mash of stuff and that stuff still sells. I have one item that is still selling consistently since 2006 (!) and I presume because the "technology" of that type item hasn't changed since then and likely never will. LOL

Learn photography and video. there is always a demand for really good wedding photographers and wedding videographers, along with doing events

Striping and stuff like that - meh... hard to make any money, ALOT of strippers are men in female avis or alts of the club owner, and men are usualy cheap bastards anyways when it comes to tipping girls! LOL

...But, they tip generously if you're a man in a female avi or an alt of the club owner?  Seems like a heck of a double standard, what?

There is money to be had in gay clubs if your avatar is twinky (looks young and submissive). And gay clubs don't care less if you're voice-verified or whatever.

If the term derives from the infamous bakery item, it would be young, submissive, and indestructible...

Stripper / escorts can make some money. This also requires an investment in a sexy avatar (Mesh, Catwa, Skin, Huds).

yeah, true .... and the investments are not over when finished creating an sexy Avatar. I am always investing my revenue in very expensive addons/plugins and new clothes to maximize the fun for my clients (and for me, too ... of course 🙂 ). But I don‘t complain not to get rich here, for I have a lot of fun with doing my SL jobs. And this is what counts after all .... 😉
