Hi all! I've seen a couple of mentions of Asian sims here, but am looking to expand my repertoire and look around too! I'm not looking for just random Asian architecture, but art that really reminds people of places.

I know a couple of Japanese ones, including the recent Harajuku event that looks really real. There was mention of Tohoku earlier in the forum as well. Does anyone know of any Chinese or Koreans ones too?

P.S In case anyone is wondering, I'm mixed blood, just really like Asian Architecture :)

There are many Japanese-themed sims, but few people in them. Mopire is a whole city. But there's not much to do there. There's a nice little Japanese suburb centered around a train station. (They should have rail service to Mopire so their salarymen and OLs can go to work.) There's a big area of Linden homes that's Japan-themed. There's a group of Japanese vehicle builders along the road in Hetrocera that runs through Burns. There are some Japanese-themed apartment buildings.

There's a whole Korean continent, Jeogeot. It's not all Korean, but it started that way and there's a strong Korean influence.

Not much from China that I know of. Does the Great Firewall of China let SL packets through? Probably not, since it has unrestricted chat.

Overall, I get the feeling that Asians in SL don't want to stay in some enclave. They go out and play in the big world.

There's also a technical problem. SL gets laggy when you're too far from the servers, which are in Phoenix, Arizona. Usage from Europe is slow and east Asia is slower. SL is moving to Amazon AWS, and it would be interesting to have some sims hosted in the Amazon AWS Pacific region. They'd be fast for people in east Asia and sluggish for North America and Europe.

Most of these Asian Sims are empty, but they are my favorite places to visit.

CHINESE

China Town http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/China Town/157/141/31 the most popular Chinese hangout.

Asian Isle http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Moon Shine/173/148/56 but it isn't as popular as China Town.

Kowloon http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//150/71/24 is an okay place, it has potential to be really cool though, it is often empty & needs to be upgraded up to date.

JAPANESE

Tokyo Street http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dox/62/154/2005 is more of a place for photos, too bad it's so beautiful and no one like hangs out there.

SSOC http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSOC/73/183/28 i think it is aimed for rp too?

Ahiru http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ahiru/64/40/27 I think that place is made for RP as well & it is beautiful there.

Home of Blue Lotus & Eternal Blades http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Restless Times/193/189/22

Hinansho http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//42/104/33 still under construction.

Kyoto Kagai http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kyoto/190/23/36 another under construction Japan town.

Shiroshi http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SHIROISHI/167/112/39 is really beautiful.

KOREAN

KoTA http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Pride/81/83/22

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Here is everything I found recently in updating my International Bazaar Compass which has hundreds of landmarks to sims with RL countries and languages.

Quite a few Asian sims have disappeared in recently years, notably some really amazing Chinese builds, but there are still many good places.

You can get a free copy of the compass here in Ross.

I'm going to make sure that I have everything Kokonattsu mentioned.

It's interesting that there are sims from Taiwan, Indonesia, and other countries you may not have known were in SL.

Whoa! Chinese and Japanese in harmony in the same place? Whales and Squid swimming together? Cats and dogs living together? The world's-a-changing, man!
