Is it possible to hire mesh creators to make items I've designed?

You can always ask.  Use the InWorld Employment forum to attract the attention of a creator.  Be prepared to provide details about what you have in mind, and then be sure that you have a clear understanding about what you are paying for and who will own the intellectual property when the job is done.  Many creators are likely to see little advantage in making something for someone else to sell when they can just as easily sell the creations themselves, so be prepared to pay very well for their time and expertise if you want exclusive rights.

Also, if you find someone you want to employ, I suggest using a partial payment system.  1/3 down, 1/3 on delivery of an item for review and approval, 1/3 on delivery of the final item.  As Rolig says, be sure both of you clearly understand who gets what rights.  Ask to see previous examples of their work.
