Hello everyone,

I was wondering what I need to install on Ubuntu to get videos to play inside SL? I read up and heard it was Gstreamer, but they don't give any specific packages to install. I installed just about every Gstreamer package I could find and still videos will not play? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you're using a recent official Second Life viewer - if not, 1) please add details 2) try with a recent official viewer.

I use Ubuntu and I don't remember I had to install additional packages in order to view videos in SL.

Those videos you can't see in the viewer - can you see them with your favorite media player?

I'd suggest you to verify this by using Totem (which I think uses Gstreamer) and not VLC (which I think includes needed codecs). I'm not 100% completely sure of this, but trying shouldn't hurt.

Let us know and/or try also asking in the inworld "Linux Client Users" group chat.

Good luck in the meantime!
