The text files ARE the logs. 

The file you seem to think is the main log is a record of the most recent conversations, not the actual log. 

That is why you HAVE text files with the names of accounts/groups you've sent IMs to/received from as well as a general "chat" text file. 

The generic, recent message log aside, this is how it has ALWAYS worked. 

ETA: Since the original post has been edited to remove the question: The OP was asking about conversation logs and mentioned a specific .log file, assuming that by its name that it was the conversation log.

Solar Legion surely knows full well a file is created on the Mac called "conversation.log,"  which is a LIST of all the text files created during conversations.   When conversation.log is lost the new conversation.log starts a LIST from the date it is created (it omits all older files from its list).   Only the list is lost, all the transcripts are still on the local hard drive.   My question was -- can a complete list be created which includes all of the files from the beginning?   The answer is NO.     

However a backup copy of conversation.log will have all of the entries, of course.   And as a side note -- missing entries can be added to the list, by simply opening a conversation with that member.

Why Solar is confusing a list with a transcript is beyond me.  But duh -- the file "conversation.log" is just a list not a transcript.

Now you come back to make a meaningless dig that has no bearing whatsoever on the original content of your starting post. 

You asked about the logs themselves, treating the .log file as though it was the log itself. 

You were corrected and then erased your post. Now you've come back to pretend you asked a wholly different question.

Oh and after not bothering to look around the forum to see if anyone else already posted about the various Teleport related issues too!
