Failed Delivery... Two weeks no contact from seller.

This is very similar to this thread.

I'm not going to provide names of person, store etc. At least not unless I am advised too. The products are NOT on the market. Only in world. They have other products on the actual market and they still work.  It's about 2500 Lindin Value. One purchase was 2500 or so Lindin. It failed to deliver. No in shop re-delivery. I never had this happen before in all the years of playing. By now I no longer really care about the item I bought as I have bought other stuff to use instead. But I would still want it for principal reasons or a refund whatever is fine. I followed the owners instructions and left them a Private Message and Sent a Notecard with all the required information. Been at least two weeks and no answer. I even have the script that can see online users who are not on your friends list. And the owner/sub owner or alts have not even be seen online. So they are MIA might be back soon or maybe they wont? I guess ultimately not much I can do. However I noticed that there whole shop inworld is glitched. Even now it won't deliver to anyone who purchases. I have not tested it but the shop venders won't even deliver notecards etc. I assume the same thing will happen for ALL PURCHASES! And no warning or real way of knowing. Experienced players may be able to see a hint that it's not working and not buy anything.

This means it will likely happen again and again to many people. I don't know how long this has been happening or how long it will continue to happen. I have gone to Inworld stores before and saw Notices... Server went down... don't buy from Vender... will be up soon. But this ingame shop has no warnings. And like I said I think a lot of players won't realize there is a problem until after purchase.

What do you think I should do other than wait longer? Is there any report I can file? Like to at least report that the shop is messed up without any warning? I probably won't get a refund from LL but they may like take down or disable the location? Or will they not? Thanks.

Can I ask if the item you bought has anything to do with dances?

Does this maybe have anything to do with Hippo vendors, which were all killed recently when the owner unplugged the server.  My Hippo updater was killed so the dozens of items I had configured to be updated no longer can be auto updated. I imagine all over SL there are dead Hippo vendors, but I don’t know if they still take money.

Also as someone mentioned, Caspervend had a brief outage.

I don't know how to tell if it's Hippo etc? The shop or vender things when I click edit option. Nothing related to hippo in the name etc. But those are just be renamed. Even under Contents none of the scripts see to have any names that I can use to figure out what powers the vender? So unless there is another way to figure out I can't tell.

I think I did. But I don't know who I should contact in said group? I already sent contact to owners. Should I like try a group wide chat if there is such a thing enabled for this group? But otherwise I looked around in the group and did not seem to see any notices etc.

Look at the name of the creator of the vendor. I forget who the Hippo creator is, but it’s a well known name. He sold the business to someone who pretty much ignored CS, and eventually just shut everything down.

I will post the name of the Vender Creator if you want. I will take a moment to get it. But the vender itself does not look like those two above venders.

It's Andy.enfield remove this name if it's not allowed here etc. Or let me know and I will remove myself. There profile is blank. I know nothing about them. I don't think they are directly related to the owner of the product. Likely they made the vender etc. I don't want to post the name of the shop or owner directly. Even if I was allowed too. Which I don't know if I am or not. Because while two weeks is a little long. I personally feel they would deserve longer. I don't know something could have happened in there life. But I'm hoping for a reply eventually.

Update- Looks like I checked into things more. In the group the owner was last online Oct/31 of this year. Even if they only come online about once a month. That is fine with me. I can wait. :)  I assume they will be online sometime in the next two weeks or so I hope. I know it is a busy time though.

Yes, Andy created Hippo, and is no longer in SL. So likely the vendor is dead and should be deleted. 

You may or may not get a refund, but if not, keep in mind that everyone in SL eventually loses money, and compared to a Starbucks, it’s usually not that much.

I updated my last message. It looks like the owner was last online Oct/31. OR could it just be an automated bot now? lol Now if they are ethical they should manually deliver my product or refund me. Because it should be 100% possible for them to confirm my purchase and or know that there shop has outdated Vendors. I will give the benefit of the dought that they are not aware of this somehow? When did Hippo go down? Stange they would not take down the vendors themselves? Anyhow should I report this to LL? Would they remove the shops vendors if they confirm it's Hippo and null and void? The owner would probably be mad I should wait 2 more weeks at least to try to resolve this without LL right? Even if I do report it LL likely won't refund me. But anyhow I will follow the general advice here. What would you do? Thanks for all the help.

I don’t know how dead vendors behave, but when Vendors have a problem, most take your money then return it when it can’t deliver. Check your transactions to see if your money was returned.

LL will not involve themselves. They certainly will not refund. Yes, much depends on the integrity of sellers in SL. That is why the rule is caveat emptor.  Buy only from sellers who are actively involved in customer support, among other things, and never buy without getting to seeing a demo.

Nope I just checked the records on main website. Money went in and no returns from that owner or any returns at all. It was also 2500L so it would be hard for me to miss. I'm not that rich.

 

Never buy without getting to seeing a demo great advice but not all products have Demos. This one did not. But to be fair I bought the same item a long time ago for another character.  Exact same item. So I felt I did not need to see a Demo. Never had a Demo back in the day either. I already knew it would work for my avatar.

 

I'm done for now. Before I posted all this I did not know they last logged in OCT/31. For all I knew they could have been MIA for years. I have some faith they will refund or manually send etc. I will update this when resolved or if it's still not resolved even 1 month from now. Than by than I will give up and lost faith in that seller. The worst part is this will likely keep happening as it is now. I guess it's important to check the vender name and do some research when spending like over 500L etc. To be fair though I never knew this could happen. And it's rare. And I bought the same product in the past. But now I know.

It is true that not all products have demos. Only buy those that do, and save yourself some aggravation. 

There are indeed incompetent, lazy, unscrupulous sellers of all kinds, so we have to take every measure to protect ourselves from them.

(Oh, and there are plenty of the same among buyers. )

Wow just recently today/yesterday the shop owner finally got back to my message. So it took all this time. They were really sorry! And offered free stuff from there store as well as delivered the item I never got. I declined the free items. Could have used them but did not really need them. But ultimately I don't take free things that often. Mistakes and problems happen. I worked customer service before. So I have been on the other side of the fence. I will let you know I had given up hope. I assumed my 2500L purchase was gone.

Now I did buy another item from another shop that basically made it so I no longer needed the other item that I did not get. But now I have both and I will make multiple avatars in outfit category so I will still make use of the item. And it's the principal 2500L is not chump change. Sucks getting ripped off. But I feel better now. And I will shop from that person again. But I will be extra careful not to shop from the broken venders. But they should have taken them down though not all my fault. And no new player would realize they were broken. lol

This is great news! I have no idea who the creator is but I am really happy to see they are one of those good people we hear about from time to time 😊
