These are the SL demographics -- older women, married men who aren't interested in war gaming or hooking up, young people from countries like Poland or Russia or Singapore or even Syria, somewhat new to Internet socializing.

A minor point of clarification - Singaporeans are extremely active social media users. It is, however, mostly via mobile.

SL can go after gamers by presenting itself as a place with the best avatar customization with socialization and creation. You can tease them by asking how many hairstyles they have in their game and reveal that SL has several thousand hairstyles. Ask them about their in-game emotes and then show them how SL has many more interactive animations between avatars, dances, poses, etc. Player housing is also pretty lame in games and SLers can make a point that their housing is superior in every way. And clothing? SL uber alles.

I've tried that countless times when trying to get gamers into SL but it only works for the types of gamers who care for such things (MMO players who are into MMOs for the character customization, housing and the social aspects instead of the combat, for example)
