Agreed, you can hide all kinds of naughtniness inside a PDF/office document - As an extreme non-malevolent example there are scientific articles that can access databases and draw up to date graphics... for someone concerned about getting hacked the poster of the link shows a devastating lack of paranoia concerning online documents

0 Jules Catlyn
I have been in SL for quite a few years now and in all those years most people i encountered who claimed their account got hacked either accepted and wore/activated items or clicked a dodgy weblink. So i guess Linden Lab's security is pretty reliable. 5

LL would be all over it and issusing statements, this is not a company that hides these type of issues, we'd know, so what can be gained from this, avoid using links to other sites that do not have the secondlife.com domain on them, simple. avoid being phished.

0 velvetgurl
on the subject of being hacked, the only way you could be hacked would be ie, from your pc, or if Lyndon labs was hacked, they would use a key logger on your pc, which logs anything you type in from your pc and sends it back to the hacker via a Trojan virus, use a decent virus checker update regular, do a fill system scan just in case, a good firewall helps, would have thought Lyndon's security would be top spec, i see it all the time on face book where people get there accounts cloned, but thats a diff thing to here, make sure your pc is not slow that could be a sure sign of malicious software or a virus running in the background, there are also some fake browser sites about what could do it, i think firestorm recently had a prob with it, only use browser from the original site not a third party site, hope you have luck Edited December 14, 2018 by binder59 spelling
