Making my own thread for help! Since I put down snow on my land, I have been wandering there wearing 1 outfit, that I bought last year! I intend to remedy that.

Alright; I have some in standard sizes, and jeans to wear, but I want fitted clothes (Maitreya), and something new. I was looking at the top events advertised in Seraphim, but nothing really caught my eye. I want sweaters, coats, mittens, all you can think of as winter clothes.

Help me make a shopping list, please?

Ooooh boy, soooo many stores to choose from :)   Here are 2 to start you off with :

1.Pixicat for this sweater, because I looove it! They also have some other cute cozy things to wear for winter as well https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Pixicat-CozySweater-Shade/15578648

2. COCO, because also another amazing sweater....and because everything they make is slife! https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/COCOOversizedSweaterBeige/13474397

You should check both their stores inworld as well, as there may be items not up on the MP.

Okay so good jeans are a dime-a-dozen, I'm sure we've both got plenty; but what's less common is good jeans that will work well with long sweaters or coats or tops, let alone the boots you'll want to wear with this type of outfit. I've got some that work with some sweaters but not others; but the first pair of jeans I ever bought is still my fallback that will almost always work:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/neve-pant-minnie-worn/13372910

Good (but not exceptional) textures, 4 colour pack, toggleable belt and belt loops (essential for this), several different boot cuts, at the same price as most single colour jeans. Worth picking up if you're running into clipping issues, for sure.

Shoes; fluffy boots are both practical and adorable, so something like this is an absolute must:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/REIGN-BAYLEE-BUTTON-BOOTS-FATPACK-Maitreya-Belleza-Slink-TD-BEBE-BODY-Toddledoo/13944621

Reign do a few other similar winter boots too, but this is the style I went for and have used since. Not the cheapest, but great quality and colour fatpack at least. I'm kinda light on the non-strappy-heel shoe department, so that's all I've got that really fits (so far).

Sweaters; I have problems with some of the stuff out there. I'm not exactly deficient in the chest area, especially for my relatively small size (but nowhere near the "how is your spine still functioning?!" levels I see all the time), so a good number of poorly rigged items from major, popular creators will deform badly. Vinyl and Tres Blah, for example, are sadly a nope. Their stuff might work for you, not sure, but if something works for my Maitreya body then the rigging should be fine for you.

There's a pretty good one by Aphorism up in Fameshed right now; it's rigged well but gives off that "you need to go up a size hun" vibe :P this landmark should drop you in front of the vendor.

Ison have another nice sweater up in Collarbor88 too, along with an accompanying set of trousers (that I didn't buy). This one was slightly trickier to pair up, as I needed something with visible belt loops for the front without clipping through the back, but I've got a couple that work perfectly with it.

Trigger warning: I'm about to shill for The Brand That Must Not Be Named, viewer discretion advised.

Blueberry's latest release is simply gorgeous. It's a coat, built in top/dress (HUD controlled). She's done the usual thing of releasing a bunch of standard colours that aren't very good, then making a set of unique patterns for this one item that are really cute but then locking them behind the fatpack paywall (ew), BUT there's still some great colours you can get in singles. I went for the cream, but the black or the tan or even a deep red works wonderfully too. No MP link yet because new release.

http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lenox and Blueberry/243/134/24

When the revolution comes, creators that don't include the vendor ad texture in their box will be the first to the gulag.

Similar to that coat is this one from Adorsy; it's more leather than the BB one, but has a similar dress HUD. Also you can throw on some stockings and some fancy lingerie and it doubles up as a strip-o-gram coat if that's your thing :P

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/adorsy-Natasha-Coat-with-Dress-Black-Maitreya/13501947

Also from Blueberry is this off-the-shoulder cardigan, which is also really cute, I've probably worn this more than anything else since I started wearing warmer clothing. Again has a top/dress HUD so you can pair it with whatever you want, or nothing at all.

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Blueberry-Mili-Cardigan-Maitreya-Belleza-All-Slink-Physique-Hourglass-Mesh-Extra-11/12993179

Not sure if it's a generational thing, but I love pairing long-ish sweaters and those coats with leggings rather than jeans. I guess appliers could work, but I prefer mesh ones simply because they come across as thicker that way, and avoids some problematic areas. Quite a few creators have a set, but here's the Blueberry ones that I totally didn't buy because they make your ass look exceptional:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Blueberry-Poppy-Leggings-Maitreya-Belleza-All-Slink-Physique-Hourglass-Mesh-Black/13225162

Okay now someone else link some stuff, I did all this work now it's your turn :P

Bonus mode:

I actually started making a shopping list of other stuff that caught my eye as I was looking up MP links, so I've not demo'd or bought any of this yet, but I will soon (after lunch)!

Great ideas, and jeans like that is really what I need. I paid 150 L for a pair of jeans with just one leg option earlier, and that was a 50% sale. The Neve jeans is 300 L with different leg options.

Layering is not easy, unless a coat or sweater is made like that. I need more bottom appliers, because jeans and pants often cut into the hem of sweaters. In my opinion, every pair of pants should include a beltless version, so many can't be worn because they stick trrough.

I bought some Lapointe & Bastchild demos, but they aren't for me. They were the only brand I know of with different boot fits. Great stuff, but I am so short and their jeans makes my legs look thick. I am sure they look great on tall legs, or it is something for those who look for the opposite of skinny jeans.

And I need turtleneck appliers with not-rigged collar. I mean, it is so many appliers but it's not very winter-y stuff. So many jacket/coats is made with tops inside that are showing bare chest down to the top of the boobs. It's a nice look, but now I want a covered up look for the really cold weather.

Why do so many clothes fit only the clothes they are matched with from the designer? I have to show the tummy unless I wear the creators pants. And the pants have no option to be worn with boots. They also have a crap fit with Maitreya. Body poking through everywhere, have to alpha it all. Anf if I wear a knit sweater applier, there is an alpha sorting problem.

Sigh.

I have also been waiting for more wintery clothing. Hilly Haalan (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chronos/136/124/22)has a winter section in her store with lots of cozy jackets and sweaters. Vinyl just released a nice winter sweater https://flic.kr/p/2aa3mtG

I love that!! But I would freeze on my chest, haha.

That's almost the same pattern as the mesh leggings I bought. But with appliers, they fit all boots.

And look, I had a pair of Blueberry boots that work for winter too. The jacket is one that @AyelaNewLifelinked to, from Adorsy. The sweater is an applier with unrigged collar, just as I wanted, from https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Sweet-Tea-Ribbed-Turtlenecks-Hummingbird-Dream-add-me/8338937

with an Earthstones necklace.

I'll see if I have time to post more looks in a few hours.

It is Black Friday sales coming up, I got a tip about Reign Winter boots a few posts up here, and it's a 50% sale ending the 25th. I hope it's more stores coming, mainstoresl.com and seraphimsl.com is what I look at every day.

Now I look for nice hair with berets, hats and whatever for winter.

This. This this this this.

Honestly, what's the point of a nice warm cosy jacket if you're wearing it wide open, with something not much more covering than a peignoir under it?????

Psst: I got 2 of these applier turtleneck sweaters. and they save my neck from freezing. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/151626/search?utf8=✓&search[category_id]=3&search[maturity_level]=GMA&search[keywords]=turtleneck

I will buy one more of them, I think.

EDIT: It is BoM ready too, since it has system layers. LL promised us BoM this year....

And maybe it's not too late to get the Hilly Haalan coat for 99 L as a Hello Tuesday offer. Some merchants let the offer sit out a bit longer. I like this because it's a normally big top inside, but I still wear a turtleneck from the Rhubarb pack under it. The included top does not have a neck collar. I choose to have the included top rose patterned, but it's a big hud for jacket parts, top and buttons, and you can turn off the top. I choose a simpler look and kept all jacket parts in the same texture. http://seraphimsl.com/2018/11/20/give-thanks-for-a-new-hello-tuesday/

Three of my favourite fall/winter outfits this year ;)

1. Salt & Pepper Trenchcoat with optional turtleneck from some event (collabor88 perhaps?)

2. !gO! Nina dress & trenchcoat (Dress comes in standalone or under-coat versions)

3. Gaall* Edelweiss complete outfit with *ARGRACE* Flat cap/MIO hair

Knitted winter applier-leggings from Z.O.E worn underneath to keep reasonably warm :D

This, this is so good! And I think it's original mesh, it is so many template mesh outfits. Not that I complain, if it's done well.

But I am not committed to buying it before I am done with Black Friday shopping.

Sometimes a mesh top has a cleavage just a bit too deep, but it's no need to cover up to the neck.

This dress is a bad example, because the cleavage isn't terribly deep. But you can see the edge of the black undershirt there. And it's not just black in the pack, but Aqua, Black, Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, Red & White. I must admit that I use only the white and black, but for 10L, it's a good buy. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Nerdosaurus-Tank-Top-Omega-Appliers/1524857

I finally got winter gloves, yay. Worth every 50 L. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Blackburns-Short-Knit-Bento-Gloves-with-Applier/13449972

But since the jacket is a tiny bit too long, it clipped into the gloves. I solved that with adding fur from another glove set: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/SD-Winter-Leather-Gloves-FAT-PACK-Maitreya-Appliers-Classic-Avatars/10065551

Because the fur isn't fitted and can be moved and resized. It was a bit work with this since I must attach the fur to underarms, not hands.

Jacket and top is secondhand gacha from Reign. Boots with stocking Reign Autumn boots, from their Black Friday sale. I adore that they are made for Mid feet, not the High ones, and that the heel is looking solid.

and the applier jeans is 10 L and from https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Nerdosaurus-Skinny-Jeans-Omega-Appliers/2190509
