Why don't prepaid cards work with SL?

Why not? It's my only form of available payment on here, so it sort of ticks me off that i can't use mine.

Also, is there any way around it?

Paypal doesn't work with gift cards at all, so don't suggest it.

There is no way around it as you asked.  It is their policy; some prepaid card policies, too.  It has to do with it being an online 'game".

I think a work-around is to pay SL fee's using funds from your Account's Linden Dollar Balance and purchase Lindens from a source (3rd party) that does accept your desired payment method. The funds purchased will be delivered to you Inworld and any SL fees can be deducted from your balance.

@ Knowl, that would work provided the person has bought Lindens on Lindex in the past. LL won`t deduct fees from a L$ balance so you have to sell the L$ and have a US$ balance in your account. If you have never bought L$ on Lindex, your sell limit would be $0.

If you want to use it to buy L$ and not to get payment info on file or pay LL fees, then you can buy Lindens on one of the other approved exchanges http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/L$_Marketplace
