Marianne Little
Yes, I ask too. I can not remember waiting like this for anything else in my +10 years in SL.
Blush Bravin
On 8/29/2018 at 7:47 AM, Vir Linden said: As usual, can't give an exact date. Bakes on Mesh requires a bunch of different back end services to be rolled out first. We're currently in the process of rolling out the inventory service. After that will be simulator changes, followed by the baking service. After all that, we can look at promoting the viewer. So while we think Bakes on Mesh is reasonably feature complete, it's likely to take a while to run through all those steps. I can't seem to get the quote to work cross threads. So I copied/pasted Vir's response about BoM from the Animesh thread. This is the last official word I remember seeing in the forums on the release date of BoM. 1
Lindens Vir Linden Posted October 19, 2018 Lindens Share Posted October 19, 2018 Update to that update: the simulator and inventory work is deployed now. Getting the appearance (baking) service updated is the main remaining issue. We are still tracking down some bugs and performance issues there, will get them sorted out as soon as we can. Once that's done we will be able promote the BOM viewer to default. 5

XD helpfull or not... it's exactly the same answer as any official Linden would give you (exception is when it's reall on the doorstep) ... for examples look at the development about the new Linden homes, changing names, BOM, and all other projects that were announced over a year ago and still are in progress/development/testing. It won't be released before it's ready in those stages, and after that it will be rolled out. Edited May 21, 2019 by Fox Wijaya

It's already usable with project viewer that's now a release candidate and has been for months. There are some changes that need to be made for some of the newer functions that won't be used with any avatar on the market and if you want to be sure to be seen by most people you need to wait until Firestorm merges the changes in, but if you're just interested in seeing how things work you can do that now.

Theresa Tennyson
Just now, Fox Wijaya said: so in short, it's not ready yet. No, it can't be described "in short." What are you describing as "ready"? If you mean, "Can most people see it with the viewer they're currently using," than the answer is "no." If you mean, "Can it be used individually in a state close to its finished form," the answer is "yes." If you mean, "Can everyone see it," you need to wait for the last holdout users of old viewers to update which means it probably never will be.
