why is my avatar showing up as a white oval and how do I get my avatar back?

On the top menus, go to advanced > character > character test (male or female depending on your avatar gender).

If the problem still remains, clear your cache:

(XP) - C: \ Documents and Settings \ (USER NAME) - AppData \ SecondLife

(Vista) - C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ AppData - Local \ SecondLife

(Win 7) - C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ AppData - Roaming \ SecondLife Delete everything in that folder and restart first your computer and after the program.

Usually the folder Appdata is a hidden folder. (Windows Tools > Folder Options > View & enable Show Hidden Files/Folders)

Other things you can do:

1)Open your inventory, type something in filter there and wait fetching ALL your items till the last one. After try to change outfit choosing one of the default ones or an outfit with only the necessary stuff.

2)Try to detach all the attachments of your outfit and move in a region with less lag.

3)For almost daily smaller issues with your appearance, use Ctrl+Alt+R (reload)
