I wasn't in the first thread..no impact

I was in the second thread..Impact,chaos and change.

I still think the same as the last thread two weeks ago as in this thread..no-Copy,no-Mod,No-sale...No impact, dust settling, showing pattern of stability.

Balance in the universe being achieved once again.

 For I am,Ninja particle.<-------------- Caution,do not collide with this particle in the attempt to create instability in the universe.. We all could possibly be sucked into a dark dark void until the very very end of this thread.

:D:P

Luna. Thank you for your post. I does appear that you understood what this thread was about, and what a few sh.t-stirrers turned it into. Your post that I found nasty was part of the flurry of nastiness that greeted me this morning. The 'Poor Phil. (Bless him)' feel to it sounded like part of the overall nastiness that the sh.t-stirrers posted.

Apparently some believe you wanted to revisit this topic to argue it again and prove you are right. I saw no evidence you wanted to discuss it again, and in fact I witnessed you not wanting to talk about it.

I can't know what their motives were, but I'm certain they weren't anything to do with that, because it was long-settled by everyone that there is absolutely no right or wrong concerning permissions, and nobody ever tried to argue that they were "right" except for themselves. So I believe that the derail and nastiness here was brought about solely by a very few people who simply wanted to have a go, and found an opportunity to do it. I can't see any other possible explanation.

I'm not going to argue with you, because that's what you, a stirrer, want ;)

Many years ago, I was at the back of a smallish union meeting in the workplace. Someone was at the front saying things and a few people were shouting agreements. But one guy near me was nothing but an agitator, and he shouted anything that came into his head, just for the sake of shouting something. One thing he shouted was "We don't want a raise". He actually shouted that. You remind me a lot of him, Love :)

That’s quite a compliment!

Because some believed you were being unreasonable on this topic and just trying to be 'right' instead of respecting their opinion too it appears they think you are taunting them by bringing up this contentious topic again.

If some think that, Luna, then they need learn some common sense, because I was always right for me, and still am, just as everyone is/was right for themselves. I don't need to bring it up again, or persuade anyone - ever.

That's not why Callum derailed the thread. He mistakenly thought that he'd observed a change in me from 10 years ago, or that he'd caught me out in a contradiction. He was wrong, of course. The others just jumped at the chance to have a dig and a stir - like Love is continuing to do right now - because it's part of what they do in the forum. In Love's case, I think it's all he does in the forum lol.

what are these 4channel forums of which you speak?

I get my ideas out of my own head, because gees, I have a brain and I  can think. I don't just open my mind and let socialists pour their failed ideas into my brain like so much mush.

And, omg no one is oppressing anyone. Did Henry ford oppress his workers by paying them 5 dollars a day (the highest industrial rate at the time) in part so that they could buy his cars. All innovation and improvement in this country has been the result of brilliant individual effort. Every time the government tries to "improve" something it just makes a giant mess. Of course then it can shift the blame on business and try even harder next time., which will of course lead to an even bigger failure.

As John Galt said to the leaders when they begged him to help them out of the mess they had created, his simple reply was "Get out of my way"

So please get out of people's way, and let them lead their lives as they see fit.

So, you're saying that you're really Ayn Rand?

I will apologize for posting in this thread at all as I have blocked Mr. Deakins and have only read his comments that have been copied into someone else's comment except for the initial post which I unblocked long enough so I could read the OP. I was just flabbergasted that he would bring this topic up so soon after having the last one blow up so badly that it got to the point that it was locked by a Linden.

Perhaps it wasn't the best of ideas to post this thread, but it's topic was not the same as the one that was locked. Unfortunately a few people, including Blush, didn't even understand the topic and so they derailed it. The topic was merely to show that the reasons for and against haven't changed at all in the intervening 10 years that. That was the topic, which I thought was smilingly interesting at this particular time. It wasn't an invitation to discuss it all again.

That's for Blush's benefit.

Ayn, reading a recent article by a Pulitzer prize winning author on injustices done to blacks it seems it might not be a good idea to "get out of people's way & let them lead their lives as they see fit":

***
In May of 1918, Mary Turner, eight months pregnant, publicly denounced the lynching of her husband, Hazel “Hayes” Turner, who had been murdered the day before. She threatened to take those who lynched him to court. A mob of several hundred in Valdosta, Ga., hunted her down. They tied the pregnant woman’s ankles together and hung her upside down from a tree. They doused her clothes with gasoline and set her on fire. Someone used a hog-butchering knife to rip open her womb. Her baby fell the ground and cried briefly. A member of the mob crushed the infant’s head under the heel of his boot. Hundreds of rounds were shot into her body. The Associated Press reported that Mary Turner had made “unwise remarks” about the lynching of her husband “and the people, in their indignation, took exceptions to her remarks, as well as her attitude.”
***

The stronger usually trample the weaker in society. It's the way it's always been. We need to have social policies in place and the means to enforce them in order to counter this tendency.
I wish it were as simple as "get out of people's way"...this is a simple solution for a simple mind that is apparently unable to perceive complexity, or at the very least a mind that is young and hasn't studied the world or had much experience in life.

Quote

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”—John Rogers
