Sorry - another SL voice help request

I've tried to find solutions but am really stuck so I'm hoping some friendly soul can help: I'm trying to use voice in SL (I have used it in the past without issue but not for a while). I have my headphone (mic included) plugged in. In my SL preferences I have input set to my mic and output set to my headphones. In SL I can see the voice dot over my head but I'm getting no green sound waves when I talk. I've tried logging in and out and rebooting my computer. Nothing seems to work. I've attached a screenshot of the settings. I can hear sounds and other people talking okay.

Really stumped as to what to do next:(

Well it's solved - typical, just as I ask for help. I don't know what the problem was. I tried another headphone with mic, didn't get very far, so took those out and plugged in the original, relogged into SL and now their working....wasted half hour....
