At precise 03:14:07 GMT the 19th of January 2038 SL closes, this was predicted the 1st of January 1970!

Lab are dealing with this - one assumes - as part of the server OS upgrades. So, nope, not 32 bit epoc.

... and still be waiting another decade for this nifty device no one with boobs should be without.

Wow, looks like it's using the flow of water from the faucet to make a vacuum? If that's the case hold the vacuum to one's bosom and *thwack* *ouch that hurts* as it's sucked violently into the cup.

I did a little bit of research on that "Le Massosein" unit. Apparently it's for firming and not enlargement. The cup pressurizes with cold water and causes temporary tissue shrinkage to deliver a firming effect. There were similar looking devices at the time that did use water to create a mild vacuum. Can't imagine either system being particularly comfortable, but sound better than the high voltage electrostimulation.

Here's the site, Le Massosein details under the "Douching" subsection: https://cosmeticsandskin.com/ded/bust.php

EDIT: Almost forgot to warn that the boob enhancement site contains depictions of bare boobs.

Yes, servers will get updated, but - then in year 2118 - some real OLD-TIMER SL users still using their original year 2003 avatars, are forcing LL to use 32 bit date functions, because otherwise it would break their original LSL engine Valentine scripts :D

This would be funny .. if it wasn't 100% true.

100 years from now, the amount of dedicated menswear designers will have doubled to four, but the two current ones will have gone out of business - and people will still be criticizing the fashion events for drowning us in tank tops and board shorts, or just giving us poses/tattoos/shapes.

But will men buy new things??  :P

Lately I've been thinking about the future of AI and VR in relation to companions. I've seen the robot as lover, house keeper, what have you, in sci-fi movies. I've been thinking it will be much easier to create an AI that is only virtual rather than having to create a physical body for it as well. So, I'm guessing if SL or VR continues as we see it currently, we might well see computer driven companions replacing human companionship in virtual spaces.

There was a really good episode of Black Mirror “San Junipero” that dealt with people uploading themselves into a virtual world. There’s supposed to be a sequel episode this coming season.

Black Mirror is a Dark sci-fi show about near future technology, that is theoretically possible now.

It also has an episode that was eerily similar to the 2016 US presidential election.

You might want to talk with someone who's had experience with that.

In about 70 years from now, there should be three intelligent life forms on Earth: 1. Artificial Sentient Intelligence (ARTSI), 2. Uploaded Human Minds (UHMs) and 3. H. sapiens. The third group should be able to log into SL for a little longer, as long as the second group allows them to use broadband in their reservations. This is a big if, because the first phases of the UHMs' Project Von Neumann for the Universal Constructor are very resource-demanding.

In 2068 human civilization collapsed.  They were too busy fighting themselves, walling themselves away from each other and destroying their eco-system to notice another power rising amongst them.  Eventually they were just fighting to survive in a world drained of resources.  Sensing the destruction of the primary food source, the vampire horde rose from the dark and hidden places they had thrived in for millennia.  Something had to be done, it was no longer acceptable to sit back and allow humanity to destroy itself.  Over the next fifty years the vampires rebuilt the world, not they way it had been for that had failed but the way that allowed all to survive.
Humans no longer had to worry about their basic needs being met.  Vampires at last no longer had to hide in the shadows.  Universal Life was the technology that enabled this to happen.  It started as a primitive virtual world back at the start of the new millennium and evolved over the next three decades to the point where computer screens and keyboards were obsoleted by Neural Impulse Interconnect technology.

Eventually it declined and was closed down due to several factors.  Humanity had begun to lose the ability to sustain complex technologies and the company that ran the virtual world had still had not achieved the ability to move seamlessly between regions without stutters and crashes nor had it managed to eliminate horrendous lag spikes.  These last two had profound neurological impacts on the brain when they occurred and were the cause of many deaths.  When the vampires took over the crumbling ruins of the human world, they discovered The Shrine of the Faithful in which the last users of the technology had preserved as much as they could before the shutdown.

It was resurrected, improved and within a few short years, the lag and region crossing issues were solved problems.  Subsequent upgrades meant that it was no longer possible for users to distinguish the in-world experience from real life, though some had argued this had always been a problem for a few.  The vampires had come to realise that the obvious way to preserve the primary food source and contain humanity's self-destructive behaviour was to permanently confine them to a reservation of the mind where they could exhibit these tendencies without that taint reaching the outside.

So it came to pass, in 2118, that as the eco-system was being restored, humanity logged into Universal Life en masse and for the most part didn't notice much difference nor seemed to care.  It was a better future than the one they had set out for themselves.  The vampires thrived too of course, taking their nutrients from a vast farm of available human stock.  It was the perfect symbiosis.  No longer did they have to suffer the fear of being hunted and instead could build their own societies.
