Money Taken out of my credit card for no reason.

Question

I have been taken money out of my credit card, for no reason. This is the entire story…

On 8/31 I noticed my credit card was charged for nearly 30 usd, which in my account history I couldnt find any matching information. I talked to live support and they asked me to fire a ticket. I did and in the end I noticed it was actually a late transaction from 8/29…

On 9/5 I used my credit card to purchase Lindens, that costed around 13 usd. When I checked my visa card. It was immediately charged 13 usd, later that night I checked my bank account linked to my visa, showing that beside that 13 usd charge. I had another charge from second life around 6-7 usd. 

This got me really frustrated, I fired a ticket once again. They kept on saying I should check my account history / transactions, and funny thing is they gave me a reply saying ohh we found that it is charged from 8/29… a date nothing to do with 9/5.

Idk how my ticket went from billing support to fraud department. Then on 9/11 I bought around 1239 lindens using my usd balance. Note * NOT from my credit card,  and gifted it to a friend. Then later that day, I notced i was charged once again  on my credit card… from second life for nothing.

  I posted the my account history, my transaction history and the history list of money charged from my visa, explaining the situation hopefully getting a good explanation .The reply from fraud department was …posting me the transaction of the history that I gifted the lindens to my friend. Not even reading the attachments I gave them…

Yes I know I gifted my friend, I know what I bought from buying the lindens I bought, but that's not the problem ! The problem is I'm charged for sth I dont know. 

Has anyone had similar experience ?

I really need help …

Here I attached two pictures, the blue mark is the 420 NT in my bank ( the 13 usd lindens I bought using visa on 9/5, this charge is correct ) the red marks on 9/5 and 9/11 are the ones I dont know where and what I was charged. And from the picture you see  the history in my of my account, and only one Linden purchase is charged from my card…I marked it with blue marker.

I can't make heads or tails of your story or your bank statement, due to the different currencies mentioned, and no way to convert between them.  Sorry.  I can only offer some general advice.

  • Edit your post immediately to remove the bank statement.  You should never post personal or financial information in these forums, they are open to the public.
  • Continue to use Live Chat and/or the support ticket process to straighten out any improper charges.
  • Consider temporarily removing your credit card as a payment method for Second Life, and also consider putting a temporary freeze on the card to prevent ANYONE from charging it.
  • Do you own more than 1024 sq m. of Mainland?  And/or have you donated any tier to any groups?  Perhaps you're getting charged land fees.
  • Do you live in a country that imposes a Value Added Tax (VAT)?  Linden Lab collects VAT, if it applies in your case.
  • The charges don't seem to be for Premium membership dues, but since money would be taken first from your USD balance, and any shortfall charged to your credit card, it's hard to tell from this end.
  • Be sure to check your USD transaction log, as well as your $L transaction log.  It will help you assemble a complete picture of events.
  • Strongly consider changing your SL password.  If someone else has obtained access to your account (by phishing or other means) they could be causing problems.

Lindal thank you for your advice.

What I did atm was removing my card, and yes that did help. But I buy stuff on marketplace / in world stores too, and second life is not letting me buying anything unless i have a payment method which frustrates me as well.

About the tax, from what I see on my profile I'm not applied to VAX.

Yes I did notice I had more than 1024, but I immediately abandoned my Lindens home. Now its 1024 L no charge at all. According to the information it charges around 4 usd per month but u can see its not a monthly charge…so I doubt it…

And yes I do check my usd transactions, But tbh I really cant figure anything out.

That's the way SL works.  If you haven't registered a verified payment method, you cannot buy L$.  See

That was a good idea, but remember that you will be charged to the greatest amount of land that you owned at any time during the current billing period, even if you only owned it for a second.  That's why it's usually smart to sell land near the end of a billing period, not at the start of one.

Not only will removing the card prevent you from buying anything right now, but it will result in you not having valid payment info the next time your tier or premium comes due -- and LL will then lock your account until you pay them
