Greetings all!

Just a friendly reminder that the Role Play forum is for discussions regarding your experiences in Second Life with regards to Role Playing.

This including ANY type of Role Play, but your posts and discussions MUST comply with the Community Guidelines

No Naming & Shaming

No Advertising your Role Play locations

No Adult Content

Personal ads are currently not being moderated, but this could change at any time, as they are, technically, off topic.  If you are looking for specific types of role playing in Second Life, I would strongly encourage everyone to turn your post into a discussion about what you are looking for, instead of just posting that you are looking.

Cheers~

but as you read it was no capital offence ;) if you broaden your topic to a "How do you guys find friends?" sort of question you should be fine

Within the first 24 hours you can edit your own posts by clicking "edit" after that period they get locked. And always remember most of us will be your fellow residents, only the account "Linden Lab" and those with a last name of "Linden" are official Lab accounts.

I shared an incident of being dealt with unfairly by admins on an RP sim without naming anyone. I hope that is OK vis-a-vis Linden Labs rules. If not, would a Linden Labs staff member contact me and if required, I will remove it.

If in doubt, you might want to censor yourself.  If you leave it up to the Lab to decide you will find out it is against the rules with a warning, the post's removal and possible temporary bans from the forums and in world.

#1 - Nope, not allowed.  Specifically naming a group or location is no different than naming specific people - at least when complaining here in the forums.

#2 - You cannot actually remove your thread.  The best you can do is Edit it and modify the title and post itself - each must have at least one character.  Or you could report the thread yourself, requesting deletion.

Ok thank you. It looks like my post was removed. I understand the rules. Sad there is no way to hold RP admins accountable for administrative abuse, but oh well. They help make the SL experience a negative one and that costs Linden Labs money in loss of participants.

As a member of this forum I think this rule  is unnecessary.

Now I see why finding roleplay is so difficult.

Advertising a roleplay is less advertising and more a call to find friends to join  your team

So,

First, I would ask for this rule to be reconsidered.

Next, In the meantime , Where can roleplay groups let people know they exist?

Plus, all the weird sex hook up stuff in the people forum and this is what is getting monitored.

I saw a video of the Second Life with a female avatar but with a male voice.  This is not my Second Life Public appearance.  I am female avatar and express myself as female for many reasons.  please be respectful toward this choice as I am to be respectful towards your own avatar role playing choice. Having female avatar also is making my own Second Life more enjoyable more fun. I have to buy more and learn more. Its helping me to be technical.

It's a shame when people ask where is a good sim to rp on which suits their needs and it can't be answered.

Perhaps people weren't reading this topic because it's a reminder from Dakota Linden about how to behave when posting in the forum.

I was so excited, to see a call for players, here on the Forum. I then went backwards to see what category it might be in. But there are no such categories.

If LL would stop trying to charge its creators not only for creating the content in the first place, but also for marketing it and finding ways to keep it going all independently, the program would work better. The owners now seem to forget that it was constructed not to make money off each other but to be a collaborative community.

The more I watch the way SL is going -- a focus on mobile devices that will not allow in-world building and limited scripting capabilities -- the more I'm reminded of the Monty Python sketch where they try to make a fish out of a dachshund dog: just chop off its legs and give it a straw to breathe through. Enjoy your fish.

Creating content* is basically* free. The only main expense in SL from LL is owning land.

If you don't like the way LL handles these forums, you're more than free to use another platform for advertising. I hear this "Facebook" thing is pretty popular.

Using Facebook with an avatar's name violates TOS of Facebook.

Facebook is real life people only, according to Facebook's own TOS. If you are using it as an avatar, you are violating their rules.

Not if you're using a "Page" for your avatar. Which a lot of people do.

Lots of things we do in life violate rules.  In the grand schema of things, violating that one is a pretty minor transgression.
