How small?  "Ruth" is fairly small, not like a midget or anything but she is smaller than the the average SL avvie, so it could be that you are Ruthed. It just means that your avatar is not downloading for some people on some occasions & it happens to everyone now and then, especially when you first login or TP, but it should correct itself after a few moments and turn you back into yourself. The fluffy white cloud is a more recent version of Ruth, but the old Ruth avatar does still show up now and then instead.

Try going to Smith and clearing your cache. Relog back onto Smith and stay there under water until your inventory has fully reloaded. You can type in the inventory search bar to prompt loading but dont` do anything else until you are fully loaded again.

Hopefully clearing out the dust bunnies will sort you out. You should avoid switching between viewers too often & if you are going to do that go to your preferences and make sure that you choose a different location for the cache for each viewer, as having them all in the same place casuses conflicts. You may also need to clear the cache for each viewer, but see if things improve after doing the viewer you prefer to use the most.

Hello Diane. If other people see you small (like a dwarf) means that your avatar hasnt fully loaded. At first, try to reload with "Ctrl+Alt+R". Open your inventory, type something in filter there and wait fetching ALL your items till the the last one. After try to change outfit. Try also another region with less lag.

Something else you can do is to test your avatar. In Viewer 2 give the command: Menu Develop (Ctrl+Alt+Q --> Avatar --> Character Tests --> Test Male / Female

If the problem remains clear your cache. Usually it helps:

(XP) - C: - Documents and Settings - (USER NAME) - AppData - SecondLife
(Vista) - C: - Users - (USER NAME) - AppData - Local - SecondLife
(Win 7) - C: - Users - (USER NAME) - AppData - Roaming - SecondLife

Delete the everything into that folder and restart first your computer and after the program.
