Question

I have a problem, which is there on both Firestorm and the SL viewer, that streaming (live) youtube does not work (shows a grey screen saying media not supported and a help link about html 5), but non-live youtube links work fine.   Both types of streams worked well for me in SL right up to a few days ago where i updated both firestorm and the SL viewer.   My guess is that it's some sort of plug in problem but does live youtube somehow use a different media type or diff SL plugin than non-live?

I reinstalled everything trying to fix it but haven't been successful.

I'm not sure if you mean streaming up to or down from YouTube...

Down, using the viewer means you are likely using the viewer's built-in web browser, which gets used for all M.O.A.P. type stuff. That browser and external browsers depend on components of Windows. Make sure Windows and your graphics drivers are all up to date.

There is also the problem of using other people's stuff (TV's) to watch the stream. Things get out of date as YouTube changes and SL creators get behind. See: Second Life: Using YouTube for Media
