saltybomb
The cost of purchasing Lindens has increased a LOT! Nearly $10 USD for only 2000.(used to be around $7.50-8.00) That is almost too much to even bother spending my cash on it. Does anyone else feel the same way? 0 Chic Aeon
Not new news at all. Transaction fee went up awhile ago. Simply buy MORE and less often and it will actually be cheaper.
0 Rolig Loon
Some people, but it's all been explained many times in the past month or so. Linden Lab has been adjusting fees in several parts of the SL experience. Residents have complained for several years about the high cost of land fees, so LL has taken several major steps this year to reduce land fees and increase the value of land. As explained in blog posts and in the public meetings that Ebbe Linden held in June, LL is rebalancing its economic model by making it less dependent on land and increasing fees elsewhere. One of those places is LindeX transaction fees. If you are buying L$, the flat fee is now $1.49 per transaction, regardless of how many L$ you buy at once. It doesn't make sense to keep buying L$ in small amounts, therefore, and it never makes sense to buy them as you make a single purchase in Marketplace. When you buy only L$2000, that $1.49 fee amounts to an additional 18%. If you buy L$10,000, however, the $1.49 fee is only another 3.75%. Therefore, to reduce the impact of the higher fees, always plan on making a few large purchases instead of a lot of frequent smaller ones.
