Kobalt Schmertzin
I recently acquired a VIVE VR system I was wondering if we could get some kind of viewer for virtual reality in a near or distant future, it would be great to be able to be on Second life with a VR headset. It could still work the same except no more arrows to turn around. I guess walking around could still be achieved with the VR controller pad and regular controls like on a keyboard up, down, back, forward. Man! I'd love to fly around a second life sim in VR.
Fionalein
There was some meddling done with the occulus but AFAIK the project was dumped or put on ice.
Kobalt Schmertzin
Awww that's sad, I hope they reconsider. I noticed VR is picking up these days there are more Co. developing games (not counting steam) and I have to admit I thought it looked like fun before trying it but now, I can't believe there's not more peoples addicted to this thing. I've spent days playing beat saber and Arizona sunshine it's mind blowing. I could just see Second Life in VR it would be absolutely awesome, peoples would still see your avatar but you would have a totally different experience Edited July 11, 2018 by Kobalt Schmertzin
Cindy Evanier
Isn't it called Sansar?
Kobalt Schmertzin
Wow! I wasn't even aware there was something like this lol. Like I said I just recently bought my VR system and being a user of Second Life since...almost 11 years that's what came to mind. Thanks for the head's up though i'll look into it
Coffee Pancake
SL VR was tried but they ran face first (quite literally) into platform limitations based on early design decisions. A lot of what defines SL does not lend itself to the performance requirements VR demands. Sansar was the result. Although .. I'd probably just stick to playing beat saber
Kobalt Schmertzin
What got me into thinking VR SL was Arizona sunshine which is basically a sim but where you can only shoot zombies. It would be nice if someone would do something similar but like sim building like we do in SL. I remember having tons of fun with details, placing rocks and trees, paths and streams teraforming etc. in SL it was fun and relaxing . Vive is fun but SL is more like socializing finding someone else with a VR system is a little harder than logging into SL lol. Hopefully soon someone will make something like SL for VR's
