I set my browser shortcut to this forum as the Unread Content, like this: - https://community.secondlife.com/discover/118/?&view=condensed

I much prefer this as I see what is new etc., rather than having to subsequently enter each section I am interested in.

However, there are always threads from sections I really do not want to see, commonly the Land Forum, where a relentless barrage of spam-style land adverts are a constant. I have tried 'Ignoring' that particular user, but that doesn't work.

Could someone share the technique/settings for a peaceful life within the Unread Content minus the ones I don't want?

What I did/do  

on the bar at the top of the page under the picture is ACTIVITY  drop down to my activity streams  then create new stream    I named it cindy default, ticked all the content I want to see then saved changes and set this as my default.  Not sure if this is how you set yours up but I manage not to see all those advertising crap

Click the down arrow in Content Types and change the selection from 'All Content' to 'Topics'.  Then click the gear next to Topics, then the down arrow to list the forums and click each one you care about.  Then save the changes.

I've now got 3 shortcuts; my original and one each for your two suggestions.

I'll try both of your techniques for a while and see which suits best. Already they're both better than mine as there's not a land spam in sight!

Just one extra question about what is viewable ..

Is it possible to 'ignore' a whole topic?

If you mean a thread within a forum, not that I'm aware of. But if you mean something like, you want to only view certain sub-fourms within a main forum, then yes.

And example of what I mean by the latter is, the People forum is a main forum, and General Discussion is a sub-forum of that. You can select only to have new threads and posts listed in the General Discussion sub-forum.

The best you can do is flag it to not notify you on updates to the thread - though if someone you follow posts on it, you'll still get a notification.  To stop notifications on the thread, pull the thread up and change the 'Following' options (upper right of the thread).

I had a look at the Invision's website about the 'Ignore' feature.
