In the age political correctness, is it time to make 'Pride Month' and all issues, creations, writings and actions associated with it, rated as adult content in second life? As it is seen as or could be offensive or unacceptable by many residents.

nobody forces them to join the pride.
Wanting to force a end at something like Pride is even against the International Human Rights.

Also, but not connected... a bit strange a releatively new, but totally empty and new account to the forums, states this kind of "heavy"  material.

Why? Do you have to be an adult to be LGBT? Is there open sex at the sponsored sims? I find Glamazons, Big body tiny headed males, Invisible pony riders and mismatched freenises offensive, Should they be forced to stay on Adult land? Believe me, Pride events are far less offensive.

No, it's not.

I find you offensive but rating you as an adult would be ridiculous considering your beliefs.

The content rating 'adult' is not equal to something being offensive. Adult is chosen, if the topic is only suited for adults, often backed up by real life law (for example: graphic violence, porn...). Yes, its true, some people in this world are offended by the idea of two guys holding hands or two women being able to marry each other officially, but that does not make pictures of them or writing about them adult content...unless we want to have marriage and displays of being a couple as a whole labled as adult content, which (as I explained) would not suit the category.

Someones level of being offended should never determine the freedom of others, if their actions do not harm anyone. Considering what some people in certain parts of the world find offensive and wrong, I'm rather glad SL is not dictated by the most offendes people. Would be a harsh life for any female avatar and the dead of all swimwear.

The Adult designation applies to Second Life regions that host, conduct, or display content that is sexually explicit, intensely violent, or depicts illicit drug use.  A region must be designated Adult if it hosts, advertises, or publicly promotes:

  • Representations of intensely violent acts, for example depicting death, torture, dismemberment or other severe bodily harm, whether or not photo-realistic (meaning that images either are or cannot be distinguished from a photograph).
  • Photo-realistic nudity.
  • Expressly sexually themed content, spaces or activities, whether or not photo-realistic. We broadly define what is "sexually themed" to include any sexually oriented activities and conduct.

Groups, event listings and classified ads that reference these themes or content must also be designated Adult. Linden Lab will enforce these rules but cannot monitor all ephemeral content and conduct within Second Life. Therefore:

  • Regions, groups, and event or classified ad listings that employ search tags plainly suggestive of adult behavior or content require the Adult designation, and will be viewable only by Residents that are at least 18 years old.
  • Linden Lab will conduct proactive monitoring and rely on abuse reports that identify adult content or conduct that is promoted or advertised publicly. Where adult content or conduct on a region is publicly advertised or promoted, that region must be designated as Adult (or such content must be removed). We will re-designate such regions if adult content is not removed.
  • Linden Lab may take into account whether apparent or reported adult content or conduct in a particular region serves only an extremely limited or passive function, or an important educational or cultural function, and therefore would be appropriate for all Second Life audiences.
  • As with all reported activity in violation of our policies, we will actively review all reports of adult conduct and provide Residents with a channel for rebuttal.

Parcels that host adult activities or contain adult content must be on:

  • The adult mainland continent, Zindra.
  • A private region that has been designated by its owner as Adult.

Region owners are responsible for designating a region's maturity level. Occupants of regions will be expected to locate in a region suitable to each occupant's content and conduct.

For more information on what qualifies as adult content, see Adult Content FAQ.

pride month is a result of political correctness. of course any revolution only gets really interesting when they start to devour their own.

conservatives are not allowed to be offended, and liberals are only offended by conservative values.

It's the next big thing: alt-right SJWs, as if the liberal ones have not been annoying enough already... 9_9

Tell a child who's painfully aware their body doesn't match their thinking that the discordance is offensive or unacceptable to certain adults.

When you're done doing that, I'll console the child with an explanation that their discordance is just another of nature's rolls of the dice and, to a lesser extent, your ignorance may be as well. I'll then make them a root beer float and explain that the world is slowly coming around to an understanding of nature's capricious ways and that part of their job will be to advocate for themselves while educating others. And, because their happiness may depend on the enlightenment of others, I'll stress how important it is for them reciprocate by listening and learning. If they can do that, they'll increase their chances of finding acceptance, friendship and love in the future.

And I'll greet each and every progress report they bring to me with a root beer float, for I too must advocate for myself and educate others... or at least bribe them.

Usually... "Conservatives" don't have time to be genuinely offended by anything as they are too busy looking for things to PRETEND to be offended at as an excuse for BEING offensive to the rest of the Human Race.

It's like that "Conservative" who posted a review of the original tomb raider game, claiming it was unsuitable for anyone least of all teenagers because Lara STOLE ancient things from tombs, thus DESECRATED graves, KILLED endangered species, MURDERED heavily armed bandits without due process, and MOANED "orgasmically" when she fell off ledges and broke her back on impact with the ground...

Yes... Genuine product review by a "Concerned Christian Citizen".

Then there was that "Conservative" who researched and implemented a cheat code for Sims 2 to remove the "censor blur", downloaded and installed custom content "non pg skins" for his sims, and then added a "stay naked" hack to stop the sims from getting dressed again.

All so he could take video captures of un censored sims writhing on sofas and beds, so he could use them as "Evidence" in a lawsuit against EA/Maxis for "Selling a pornographic game to teenagers" for which he wanted $1,000,000 in personal compensation for the distress he'd suffered discovering that if he had teen kids, they might have seen a digital low rez nipple.

The kind of "Conservative Values" publicly espoused by the noisiest "Concerned Conservatives" deserve to cause offense, because they are designed to cause offense.

Ya know Pam, almost everything seems to mean the opposite of what I think it does.

As an irony lover, I can't describe just how amusing that is.

;-).

In the original Richie Rich comics (from 1953-1991), he had a robot maid named Irona.  I don't think she was meant to be ironic. Except that she used an iron. So maybe she was named ironically.
