SO group notices tend to be things that are happening now so I'd like to get group notices while online but not get offline group notices filling up my inbox. I do however want offline IM. How can I do this?

only by shutting down the groupsnotices totally, so also inworld

open the groupprofile and disable the functions you don't want

like visible in profile

groupschat

groupsnotices

some viewers offer the choise to stop chat and notices together.

( if the content of the group is interesting you always can keep up with opening the groupprofile and manually see what's posted_)

So basically you want the group notices when online but you don't want those notices going to email, though you do want to continue receiving IMs to email.  There is no way to filter which messages get sent to email when you are offline.  Thus your only option is to disable the group notices for every group before logging out and then re-enable the ones you want when you log in again.

People spamming group notices for dances is a long time gripe of mine. I really dislike it a lot, it's right up there with full-bright plants.
(My partner does it habitually, which makes it worse for me)

Sadly there isn't a way to stop these notices offline short of turning off group notices for the spammy groups completely and replying on group chat and the inevitable call to arms and hoOOooOOos and what-nots in there.

Yes, is exactly what I'd like to have! But as you have all said, it is just not possible. Thank you for your answers.
