Second Life stops responding when splash page loads.

After 'Loading VFS' displays, and the splash page window opens, the login info never appears, an a crash report and 'Windows is trying to find a solution' appear. I have re-downloaded SL three times and restarted my PC....none work

Could you provide more information about your computer equipment and internet connection?

Can you test to see if the same thing happens with a 3rd party viewer such as Phoenix http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory

Phoenix is having problems running on my PC overall.....I tried Singularity and it does the same thing, but after 'Detecting Hardware', it crashes.

Imprudence and Second Life Viewer 2 act exactly the same.

Ok in that case, uninstall all the viewers that you don`t want to use & then go to the cache locations on your HD and get rid of all those folders too:

(XP) - C: - Documents and Settings - (USER NAME) - AppData - SecondLife
(Vista) - C: - Users - (USER NAME) - AppData - Local - SecondLife
(Win 7) - C: - Users - (USER NAME) - AppData - Roaming - SecondLife and  Local - SecondLife

Delete the contents of the folder and restart your computer.
If you have Windows 7, you will also have Phoenix folders in Local and probably other viewer folders, delete those too.

NOTE: You may need to go to Windows Tools > Folder Options > View & enable Show Hidden Files/Folders, in order to see AppData folder.

The change your start location to Smith & login there, open your inventory and wait for it to fully reloaded before doing anything else.
