Need tips for an elderly overweight black woman avatar.

First off, I want to make clear that I mean no offense by creating this type of avatar. I intend for this avatar to be inspired by a character in some of the stories that I write (a friendly restaurant manager). If for some reason the topic gets out of hand a mod can close it.

Anyway, I'm looking to create a certain female avatar. The avatar is somewhat elderly (in her 60s), is overweight, and is black or African descent. She has short black hair (kinda like a pixie cut). Clothes should be appropriate for an older lady. I was wondering what products or other things I need to create such an avatar. I'm willing to use mesh.

Look up a shop named "The Golden Years"... they offer a lot of items for elderly looks, in a somewhat comic style. I think the skins come with Maitreya and Omega appliers, so you have a pretty choice of bodies.

For hair choices, there's a thread around here listing several stores with dreadlocks and such. Perhaps you'll like some of them.

Clothes... hmm, Ingenue?

I always want to create a black woman avatar as well just because I think the Itgirls store has THE BEST skins for black female avatars, they're so realistic and gorgeous! You can add wrinkles as make-up too, then you can choose any skin you want.

If this not a main avatar you will be using often, I'd suggest just getting the mesh clothing, hair, shoes, etc and not getting a relatively expensive mesh body or head. The same advice for any other characters you may want to create.

I agree, ItGirls are the only skins that I wear atm.

i have been using Modish appliers for Catwa and Maitreya, i find so many other brands have a tendency to look almost copper or bronze instead of a true brown skin.

Yeah, I used your suggestion of the Bernice skin and shape. I might pair the shape with the Abigail skin...thinking about it. Thank you very much by the way!

 

Still working on the avatar, though. I'm still open to other suggestions, especially now that I've provided a visual aid.

Try the Ebody Curvy mesh body.  They have a free version in-world in the store that has limited features, but should be fine for an alt.  It has a very natural-looking, curvy, heavyset shape that you shouldn't have to edit much to get the look you desire in that photo.

A Marketplace search for the word "grandma" brings up a lot of results. Most look white but a couple of them look black.

This is not a final look, but here's what I got so far using the Shawna base avatar and the Bernice shape....

 

 

I'm going to keep working on the avi, though. As said before I will combine it with other suggestions I've received.
